The thing that will clearly make for much more winter cold is the multitude of sprint/summer/fall volcanoes spewing ash into the upper atmosphere.
And, there have been plenty of them.
NOT what I wanted to see. We need snowy here. Besides which, did the FA not get the memo from grrrrrrrreta?
Good, Let it snow. The deeper the better.
I thought due to climate change kids will never see snow again?
Cold and wet....
Hmmmmm, didn’t we used to call that winter...? 🤔
I hate winter. I’m in “cold and snowy” according to the map…
Here’s their prediction for last year:
“The centuries-old forecaster is predicting a light winter for most of the United States, with warmer-than-normal temperatures expected for a large part of the country.”
How’d that turn out?
IIRC, doesn’t the almanac’s formula closely resemble Weatherbell’s? The latter seems much more erudite and deeply informed, but the almanac relies heavily on historical patterns.
Illegals and refugees don’t like cold weather. This may be a good thing.
Oh yay!! I’m in the Cold/Snowy section.
I never saw snow for the first time until we moved to TN from FL in the late 60’s when I started high school. TN got a lot of snow then but it has been less and less over the years. The last major snow we had here was in ‘93 when we had the big blizzard. We aren’t equipped for snow. My County only has one snowplow. Everything shuts down. We aren’t allowed on the roads (for good reason). Snow here is incredibly wet and sticky. It sticks to tires like glue.
I’m retired now with nowhere to go so I would love to have a big snow.
Ree Drummond?
Rae Drummond is “the pioneer woman”, largest single shareholder at Walmart and owner of one of the largest swathes of land in the us.
I wonder if it’s the same?
Biden’s fault!
I’m one of the crazies who LOVES winter, the colder the better. Bear in mind though, that I live in hot, muggy Florida, where summer seems to go on forever . . .
What do the Wooly Worms say?
One thing I can usually count on at least around here is the Farmers Almanac predictions being wrong.
Darn…the Inland Northwest is cold and dry. We need precip!
So natural gas prices are through the roof. So yes, winter is going to be frigid. Murphy’s law seldom fails.
Time to hunt for my Jimmy Carter approved sweaters. Thanks, Biden!
‘Old Farmer’s Almanac’ has been around since the 1800’s. Their reputation for one surprising forecast has kept them viable even in this day & age. Without double checking my memory, I believe it was the Summer of 1813 it predicted Snow in July in New England. And it did snow.
