ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has learned that a man is dead and another was injured during a shooting at a busy Buckhead shopping center.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center in the 2300 block of Peachtree Road.
Police said a man was coming out of one of the stores when he saw people breaking into his car. That’s when he confronted them and started shooting to defend himself.
Investigators said another man ran from the scene and was shooting off rounds as he ran. They located that person a short distance later.
In total, two people were shot. One was killed at the scene. The other was taken to a nearby hospital and was last listed as stable.
Branch Properties, which owns the shopping center, released a statement, saying:
“On Friday afternoon, the security team at Peachtree Battle Shopping Center responded to a situation that occurred in the parking lot. Our team was on-site and responded immediately and is continuing to work closely with the Atlanta Police Department. The safety of our guests is our top priority, and we are continuing to keep heightened security measures in place on-site.”

A late friend very political, held elective office and came this close in his run for mayor of his large suburb.
He was 100% against a mega-mega expansion oh the local hospital.
I ask what the many new jobs?
He said, what about the crime? And explained, hospitals require huge 24-hour staffing, mostly low pay will not travel far for a low paying job.
He named names and pointed to local examples.
Build it, and they will come.
Uh no, taking someone else’s stuff is “aggression,” not walking towards one’s own parked car.
Nothing in that guy’s car was more valuable than the life which was lost.
Well, we’ll see how he fares in court.

I’m serious, Here’s a good description of what the dims in the legislature has done. This is what happens when you become a 1 political party state. We haven’t elected a Republican governor in over 40 years!
This law is bad. One week in, the cops let a murder suspect walk away from the scene because nobody could say that they saw the perp do the deed. So the cops could do nothing except watch the guy walk off into the sunset.
A week or so later one of the local radio hosts interviewed the legislator who authored this terrible piece of legislation and he defended it. He said all the cops have to do is LIE and say the perp was drunk or some other valid reason listed in the new law so they can act like police and arrest the perp.
LIE? No cop is going to do that especially now that the same law that they have been told to lie about strips their immunity shield.
We’re really screwed in this state right now.
You do know what MARTA means, right? I'm a damn' yankee and I know.

MARTA is coming to Gwinnett.
They will keep forcing it down our throats and the new immigrants from blue states will support it.

Before it was named MARTA, IT was Fulton Area Rapid Transit....No joke. FART. They obviously changed the name...
We care about our customers, we don’t give a crap about their cars. We have never had a vehicle purchase anything at this mall.
Too bad the headline didn’t read “Two criminals dead, car owner unhurt.”

In Texas but not in most jurisdictions.
Almost everywhere else the prosecutor will take the position that you are to call the cops. The prosecutor will take the position that by confronting a thief, you instigated the violence.
There have been many cases in the news where a person was arrested and tried for shooting a person who was stealing his property.
If you are going to carry you had better know the law and even more important, how the local law enforcement interprets the law. Interpretation varies a lot from one county to another....
That is the one concern I have about Constitutional Carry. People can buy a side arm and carry with absolutely zero knowledge of hen and where it can be fired. The carry permit system does require one to take a course, which is so basic as to fail to cover everything one needs to know, but it is a starting place for anyone with a brain.
Real “gun control”..... we need more of this!
I read somewhere in the masses of stats which I’ve read in the past that less than 50% of the people shot with handguns actually die from being shot. Handguns are poor stoppers. This is merely my humble opinion, but they’re “glorified slingshots”. Having said that, they’re still the best personal defense weapon going for “most” people.
