At the beginning people seemed to reverently obey the TSA agents on the idea they were just a little under the FBI and officials in the Dept. of Justice.

Then articles came out revealing they were sort of like postal front desk workers, low skilled civil servants, many of whom were not very bright. But with power to hurt people through their arrogance and a chip on their shoulder.
