Chicago woman accused of making false bomb threat after missing flight at Florida airport, officials say

A Chicago woman was arrested in a Florida airport after allegedly making a false bomb threat, officials said.

Marina Verbitsky, 46, of the Old Town neighborhood, was arrested Monday night at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Verbitsky told airport employees there was a bomb in her checked luggage that was on the plane after she was told she and her party were too late to board the plane, deputies said.

If her luggage was already on the plane, she was probably too drunk to get to the gate on time. You have to check your luggage at least 30/45 minutes before departure. I have actually seen gate agents hold a plane because one member of the group begged them to hold it while the other members of the group finished getting their hamburgers and drinks so they could eat disgusting food on the airplane. I can believe she might have said, “what if I had a bomb in my luggage,” but to say you had one in your own luggage is bonkers.
