A Millbrook resident, Van De Water was a litigation attorney in Poughkeepsie and provided legal services to the U.S. Army Reserves, the Times Union reported when he campaigned for the House seat last year. Van De Water was an active duty member of the Army from 2006 to 2014 and was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan. He graduated from Albany Law School and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Details concerning circumstances surrounding his death were unclear Tuesday night. His body was reportedly found in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Though no cause of death has been revealed, Molinaro and Delgado each referenced assistance available to veterans in statements.

Yep, square chin etc. BTW, this seat is a tossup seat. It should be a focus of the House Congressional Campaign Committee.
The VA should be empty of all injured vets by now at 22 a day, don'cha' think ?
In this day of MKULTRA and like programs, I believe vets come home, look around and say, "WTF?", and determine in their hearts to do something.
After all ... some of those guys saw shit that shouldn't be seen, or done shit that ordinarily would not have done.

It is. A relative of mine reached out to a vet friend of hers .... ‘thinking about you, if you need to talk, I have ears’. He did need to talk ... came to visit, got some baby hugs/snuggles with her new baby, had a beer, did some talking .... felt better. How long that lasts, don’t know, but he knows who he can talk to.
This same relative lives in a small(er) community. The Sheriff’s dept was posting messages to vets on FB & also giving the suicide hotline for vets. One vet got in touch - told them the suicide hotline was so busy, it was hard to get through & some vets need a face-to-face. This Sheriff’s Dept has made two officers (both vets) available - gave their phone numbers. They will talk on the phone or meet face-to-face with any vets in the area who need it. This is really “stepping up”, IMO - I was impressed.
Mo Bannon (West Point grad, 10 years in Army, Steve Bannon’s daughter), said to please reach out to vets you know. Don’t say ‘I know how you feel’ because you don’t - say thinking about you, do you need anything?, here if you need me. She said just reaching out can really help.
When you give 8 years of your life to something, and then watch it turned into being meaningless in front of your eyes and the world’s eyes, of course it is going to hurt - a lot.
It’s not just the lives of any Americans still in Afghanistan that Biden turned his back on and devalued. It’s also the life of every person who sacrificed for what used to be America.

I’m just enough of a cynic to imagine that people don’t usually go out of their way to rural cemeteries or parks to commit suicide.
Eight years in Afghanistan would have been exceptional even for the SF guys and contractors. It looks as though he spent eight years on active duty.
I get it, but people do commit suicide in cemeteries. I don't think it's like the vince foster murder.
He may have gone to the cemetery to visit someone buried there. Maybe a fellow vet, maybe a parent.
No one spends 8 full years on deployment.
That said, he probably saw plenty of terrible things and lost friends as well.
Hopefully he’s at peace now.
Sad. RIP. Likely had the race stolen from him in November given the voter fraud in NY. This was a solid GOP district.
Psych meds are all labelled with warnings that they create homicidal and suicidal urges and thoughts. These drugs are handed out like candy. They were handed out liberally even the the war zone. So the rates of suicide are not surprising at all. It was planned and purposefully carried out by mental health “experts”. That’s what the drugs do.
