Chris Christie’s notorious beach photo inspired a new N.J. beer

Beer technically isn’t allowed on most New Jersey beaches. But then again, all state beaches were closed in 2017, and that didn’t stop then-Gov. Chris Christie from getting out on the sand.

Whether you’re sneaking booze onto the beach or just having a cold one at home, for a short time you could have celebrated the notorious Christie Beachgate scandal at the same time. Icarcus Brewing Co. in Lakewood released Private Beach, a blonde ale with the infamous Christie photo — shot by NJ Advance Media — on the can.
