After Newsom recall, California Democrats eye changes to state's direct democracy system

Regardless of whether Gov. Gavin Newsom survives the Sept. 14 recall election, Democrats in the nation’s largest state are eying big changes to the recall system.

"I have talked to several key legislators who are ready to rip apart the recall process and put it back together," Garry South, a Democratic consultant and former senior political adviser to Gray Davis, the governor recalled in 2003, told Fox News. "Two of the last elected Democratic governors have been subjected to recall elections in the last 18 years."

Some of the changes under consideration include a malfeasance standard, hiking the number of signatures required to qualify a recall for the ballot, and requiring more signatures from the party of the official targeted for recall. State lawmakers have already considered bills that would ban paying people to gather signatures, one to require voters to read a list of a recall or referendum’s top contributors before signing a petition, and one allowing a politician facing a recall to also run as a replacement candidate.

"Democracy" is only good when it elects democrats.

When it removes democrats (or puts them in danger of removal, causing them to abandon progressive causes), then it's bad.

The rules for recall have been in Democrat hands for decades. And just now it’s a problem. LOL!

Democrats are consolidating their stranglehold on California. Democracy keeps obstructing their monopoly on power.

The option that never seems to occur to liberal TWOT’s out this way is to quit pushing total F*** losers onto the voting polls.

It’s not a matter of choosing the “lesser of evils”, it’s holding your nose just to look at the ballot to see if it is at all possible to not vote for a corrupt hack who thinks it is her/his turn. The gag reflex can be a real problem.

When Democrats can’t win under the rules, they just change them. You have to admire the Democrats though. They fight. Even when the game is over, they stay on the field and gaslight the refs and opposing players into believing they still have time to score.

If CA is so stupid why is Deep State shoving
RCV down its throat, hmmm?

Why is Deep State so terrified of the recall?

CA is educable. And Deep State knows it.

Note that this is only RECALLS that they’re going after (I think), not issues, where their ‘Direct Democracy’ works fine in their quest for Fascism.

Fake polls do not win elections anymore.

They may suppress some votes but the tsunami lamp is lit.

Let the rats strap on water wings, they about to get real wet.
