Thousands of supporters of far-right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro have descended on Brazil's economic and political capitals, hoping to rally behind the embattled president, sparking fears of a military coup.
Bolsonaro is expected to address packed Independence Day rallies in Brasilia and Sao Paulo on Tuesday. The president has called for support for his attacks on the country's Supreme Court that has raised fears around South America's largest democracy.
Bolsonaro on August 14 called on the Senate to bring charges against two Supreme Court justices, warning Brazil could face a political "institutional rupture" if the charges were not brought.
One of the justices, Alexandre de Moraes, jailed the head of a party allied with the nationalist president in a probe of online misinformation and anti-democratic threats. He also opened a probe of Bolsonaro for posting confidential material on social media to try and prove an allegation of election fraud.
The other justice, Luis Roberto Barroso, has been a vociferous opponent to Bolsonaro's unsubstantiated election fraud claims, and the president retorted by calling him a "son of a whore."
Security was beefed up in the capital, Brasilia, in preparation for the demonstrations on Tuesday, and police started blocking access to the central mall where thousands are expected to march, Reuters reported.

BS point of view from a BS source. That being said, Trump blew it immediately after the 1/6 coup. Trump should have called on his supports to strike, peacefully protest across the country and to denounce the joint Republican/democrat led coup. That was the time to act. Trump and his MAGA movement died due to inaction in those critical few January days.

The false narrative of an “armed insurrection” on January 6 is beyond absurd. If President Trump had asked for it there would have been 1 million heavily armed patriots, many with military experience, who would have shown up and taken over every aspect of the federal government in Washington and Northern Virginia. The Dems and media have spun this Antifa false flag into the premise for a witch hunt against all patriots. If the day ever comes when patriots believe they have no choice but to defy a corrupt and treasonous government it will not be by unarmed sightseers who politely walk through the halls of Congress escorted by Capitol Hill police.
I believe that Brazil uses the Napoleonic code, so judges are not the defenders of democracy some might think. They’re more like prosecutors with a political agenda.
I think that storm warning is a lot closer to home.
January 6th happens in September in Brazil.

We were in Brazil a number of years ago, just before an election (two elections ago). The people we were staying with said there were 34 parties in Brazil and the word Socialist was in every one of their names. Historically all thieves and crooks. The only “privately” owned guns in the country were in the hands of street criminals. People were regularly robbed on public transportation. The last election Bolsonaro ran as a Christian, supporting private ownership of defensive weapons. Have no idea as to party affiliation.

It’s been that way for a long, long time.
I was in grad school during Reagan’s 2nd term and recall hearing “far right” back then.
