...Jerry and Alice are among the many live music fans that have refused all the governmental incentives to get tested...Despite their protests, Jerry and Alice and thousands of other unvaccinated New Yorkers and tourists will find themselves unable to enter indoor dining, entertainment or fitness facilities starting today.
Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced that the Key to NYC vaccination mandate for indoor dining, entertainment, and fitness will start tomorrow, August 17...Enforcement will begin, with a multi-agency coalition, on September 13.
“New York City has one mission: defeat the delta variant and build a recovery for all of us,” said de Blasio. “The Key to NYC sends a powerful message that vaccination will unlock our city’s potential, and we’ll stop at nothing to save lives and keep New Yorkers safe.”
...
Surprisingly, the executive order allows unvaccinated nonresident performers a pass. Under the exceptions to the executive order, section 2B exempts “a nonresident performing artist not regularly employed by the covered entity while they are in a covered premises for purposes of performing.” They “may enter a covered premises without displaying proof of vaccination, provided that such individuals wear a face mask at all times they are unable to maintain six (6) feet of distance from other individuals inside the covered premises.” If they are New York City residents, however, the performers must be vaccinated.
Section 4D allows a traveling musician’s unvaccinated road crew into the venues. The exemption allows “a nonresident individual accompanying a performing artist … into a covered premises as part of their regular employment so long as the performing artist (is) performing … in the covered premises.” As with the performer, the unvaccinated road crew must wear a face mask whenever they come within six feet of others.

Once again, as Grampa Dave taught us, when you see rules for thee but not for them, you realize how none of this is about our health.
How completely absurd.
What about non-resident visitors?
Does this supersmart virus know the difference between un- “vax”d performers and visitors??
🤔
“I can’t let you in! This is an existential crisis! The virus is really bad, and we’re all panicking! If you don’t have the vaccine, I can’t let you in! There’s nothing I can do!”
“But, I’m from Illinois, and I’m with the band.”
“Oh! Why didn’t you say so? Go on in.”
” I’m with the band.”
“Oh! Why didn’t you say so? Go on in.”
**
That reminds me of Beastie Boys “No Sleep til Brooklyn” video opening. “You’re the band, where are your instruments?”
And, ditto for the US Tennis Open, in NYC.
Players don’t have to be jabbed....spectators do.🙃
Such a smart virus. 🙄

So overwhelm them?
Does a restaurant really want to close?
And they expect to be taken seriously. The hell with all of them, fight back.

The real question is do we know the virus’s taste in music?
I live in New York City and this vaccination rule regarding dining out does not apply to restaurants that do not have waiter or waitress service.
So all the major fast food places, along with the slightly fancier ones, like Panera and Boston market, as well as by the slice pizzerias, Middle Eastern falafel places, Latin American cafeteria style eateries, Chinese takeout joints, etc, are all exempt.
In other words, if you’re a working class person on a tight budget, there are still plenty of places that you’re allowed to eat. It’s obvious to me that so many of these mandates are geared towards punishing the upper middle class..... Nice restaurants where people wine and dine with their friends, concerts, sporting events, traveling.
Anybody who has put themselves in a position to live the good life is being targeted. That’s Socialism 101. Punish the strivers. Unfortunately, too many of our modern day strivers are a bunch of compliant sheep, who are willing to do anything to climb the corporate ladder of success. Much different than the scrappy entrepreneurs of my parents generation.
Love how all these rock stars and country stars are claiming to be all “covidy” and wanting to protect blah, blah, blah...
When givernments have struggled to rules for performance...
For restaurants etal just use a fake Vaxx Certificate with a fake name—worst case they don’t allow you in...
On the fake certificate note location of vaccination as:
Mengele Institute Satellite Office 666.
Everyone should get a good laugh as they let you pass!
“I live in New York City and this vaccination rule regarding dining out does not apply to restaurants that do not have waiter or waitress service.”
My cousins over in the Bronx and Brooklyn said the same thing. Funny thing is that in my biz, fake vaxx passports are all over the place here in L.A.. They dont even check the numbers on the but if it looks “right”, they let you in the resto. The reasoning I get is that they need the money and waiters need tips. Mostly word of mouth on which restos to avoid or get gestapo on you if they dont like what they see. .
An odd way of backdoor eating their own, most are woke, enjoy

Lots of exemptions. Wonder if there’s one for country clubs, yacht clubs, golf clubs...
The exemptions are not for the New York Yacht Club (I was there when I worked in NYC...it's a nice place, but they require a vaxx pass), high-end steak houses, or other "high-end" establishments. Per the Order,
"Indoor Food Services, including indoor portions of food service establishments offering food and drink, including all indoor dining areas of food service establishments that receive letter grades as described in section 81.51 of the Health Code; businesses operating indoor seating areas of food courts; catering food service establishments that provide food indoors on its premises; and any indoor portions of food service establishment that is regulated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets offering food for on-premises indoor consumption. The requirements of this Order shall not apply to any food service establishment offering food and/or drink exclusively for off-premises or outdoor consumption, or to a food service establishment providing charitable food services such as soup kitchens;(emphasis added)
Let us not forget what Comrade de Blasio (and I'm not being hyperbolic there in a FR way...I'm dead serious) told us in a moment of candor in 2017:
de Blasio: What’s been hardest is the way our legal system is structured to favor private property. I think people all over this city, of every background, would like to have the city government be able to determine which building goes where, how high it will be, who gets to live in it, what the rent will be. I think there’s a socialistic impulse, which I hear every day, in every kind of community, that they would like things to be planned in accordance to their needs. And I would, too. Unfortunately, what stands in the way of that is hundreds of years of history that have elevated property rights and wealth to the point that that’s the reality that calls the tune on a lot of development…
…Look, if I had my druthers, the city government would determine every single plot of land, how development would proceed. And there would be very stringent requirements around income levels and rents. That’s a world I’d love to see, and I think what we have, in this city at least, are people who would love to have the New Deal back, on one level. They’d love to have a very, very powerful government, including a federal government, involved in directly addressing their day-to-day reality.
It’s not reachable right now. And it leaves this friction, and this anger, which is visceral.
To be fair, the national pandemic state response seems to favor the "rich" over the "poor": shutdowns and mandates vaporized business and jobs held by hourly and lower-wage employees (and, for what it's worth, disproportionately minority) while white collar Karens kept working remotely and got direct deposit paychecks and Whole Food deliveries in their HEPA-filtered home. This isn't "eat the rich" at all.
However, de Blasio ruins, erm, runs NYC, which is not a town of 1300 people. His motivations are clear. Take note: I wrote elsewhere, about an article I read years ago about "safety in numbers" that posited that as extremists acting under the disguise as "being mainstream and tolerant" grow in number and intensity, their "mainstream" mask falls away and they just come out into the light, as the hate-mongering butchers thay are truly.
I am a Christian and I believe I am called to help the poor. And I do. But I'm not called to help destroy myself or civilization in that process. It seems de Blasio and his ilk in NYC, having achieved a menacing size and voice locally, have gone all-in over the past 18 months on their "some people simply do not belong and require re-education or stricter measures" policies.
We should keep watch on the bigger stage.
Maybe the "wealthy" nationally and FB, Google, AWS et al are collaborating with the statists/Stasi-in-training in the hope their organs will be harvested last. They should not be surprised when their pet rabid rat, acts like a rabid rat.
\rant. Thanks for listening.
The regulation doesn’t go into effect until September 17. There’s going to be enforcement, with huge fines for the restaurant and possible imprisonment for the would-be diner.
Possibly not a good idea to encourage people to break the law.
Thanks for the warning Mayor Garcetti.
Blasio’s doing the right thing. They have several clever processes in place to get the recalcitrant to get vaccinated, so they don’t have to “mandate,” a word that is being vastly misused.
Get a load of this. The Kaiser’s goon squad just got a lot bigger...

God help anyone who needs a cop or a firefighter. They’re gonna be a little busy.
