The temporary shelter, a warehouse in the town of Independence, was overwhelmed after receiving hundreds of residents from seven nursing homes on August 27 ahead of Hurricane Ida, officials said, as power and sanitary conditions were failing.

The media is obviously downplaying and most likely not even reporting deaths from the Hurricane area... There must be many more deaths that haven’t been reported.

The latest statistic I saw is that if a person checks into a nursing home their average life expectancy is two years.

Some die the next day, some can last several years—I think that number is a median (half above, half below) not a mean (simple calculated average).

This nursing home chain has a very problematic history. It was reckless of them to move their patients to Independence, directly in the storm’s path. This has nothing to do with Biden or our Democrat governor. This is entirely a failure within the private sector. The state AG is investigating, and criminal negligence charges may be coming.

I work in a nursing home and we loose a resident every two to three months. 5 deaths from seven nursing homes looks average to me.
