Increased Poison Control Calls due to Ivermectin Ingestion and Potential Toxicity

• The Mississippi Poison Control Center has received an increasing number of calls from individuals with potential ivermectin exposure taken to treat or prevent COVID-19 infection.

• At least 70% of the recent calls have been related to ingestion of livestock or animal formulations of ivermectin purchased at livestock supply centers.

• 85% of the callers had mild symptoms, but one individual was instructed to seek further evaluation due to the amount of ivermectin reportedly ingested.

• No hospitalizations due to ivermectin toxicity have been directly reported to the Mississippi Poison Control Center or the Mississippi State Department of Health.

• There are approved uses for ivermectin in both people and animals. Patients should be advised to not take any medications intended to treat animals and should be instructed to only take ivermectin as prescribed by their physician.

• Animal drugs are highly concentrated for large animals and can be highly toxic in humans. Some of the symptoms associated with ivermectin toxicity include rash, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, neurologic disorders, and potentially severe hepatitis requiring hospitalization.

• Mississippi physicians, providers and hospitals that identify patients with illness related to the ingestion of ivermectin, either prescribed or livestock formulations, should report to the Mississippi Poison Control

Center at 1-800-222-1222.

I touched on the fact that his best argument may have been
that there wasn’t a human form, if that were true.

How was that insulting? Oh, it wasn’t.

He addressed off prescription medication, and I responded to
him on that point.

You trying to alter that later on didn’t really address the
issue we were addressing.

I did not attack him for his stance. I merely addressed the
problems that can arise from that stance.

If you can’t grasp the finer points of a conversation,
perhaps you should refrain from making a fool out of
yourself by attacking others.

I did not treat him indecently, and so your attempted
insult only managed to take you even further off track.

As for the Pee Wee Herman reference, own it big fella.

Just imagine if your Doc could just prescribe it as a prophylactic along with a few vitamins, ZINC, C. D-3 and a multivitamin.

Your doctor CAN prescribe it as a prophylactic. Mine did.

to you. You still haven’t acknowledge to this point,
we were talking about medications produced to be taken by
animals.

You chimed in about doctors prescribing, but still haven’t
figured out that wasn’t what the poster was talking about. There is a human form. That is what doctors prescribe.

You still haven’t figured that out and acknowledged that,
to this point, so you talking about me, represents a
clueless mindset to the max.

Then when called on it you decided insults was the way to
go.

So go ahead and drive home the point you are incapable
of grasping the topic at hand, trying to insult your way
to a victory you can never attain.
