MILLBURN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy continues to tour the path of destruction Ida left behind Friday, speaking with residents who say they are overwhelmed by the cleanup ahead.

The storm is now blamed for at least 25 deaths in the Garden State, and six other people are still missing.

Murphy’s first stop Friday was downtown Millburn, which saw colossal flooding. He went door to door with other state leaders to survey the damage.

“Millburn was crushed. The downtown small business community was crushed,” he said. “The damage caused by Ida is significant by any measure, and recovering and rebuilding will require economic support. We will be there.”

Down the drain to the politicians and special interest groups in the sewers of corruption in which they operate. Revenue flow never gets to those intended without many taking their cut along the way.....

Hurricane Sandy

I remember out-of-state utility trucks getting vandalized — they came to help, and that’s the #ing gratitude the territorial Tri-State thugs gave them.

All those cars in the flooded out underpasses.

You NEVER try to get through them because you don’t know how deep the water is.

Now they have lots of flood damaged cars to get rid of and what to replace them with?

Cars are already in short supply and have become expensive but all the money in the world is not going to buy what does not exist.

How could this happen?

The Democrats weren’t going to allow any more storms or flooding!

It could have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for all of the businesses that were ruined and closed down by Murphy’s pandemic rules.

Yeah..which makes my sky blue paid off 2017 Tuscon worth a mint(only 55k miles).

I saw a lot of good looking used cars in sales lots around Harrisburg Pa for sale(at fairly decent prices) a few weeks ago....i can only imagine how far some will have to go in land from the coast looking for even good serviceable used cars whose prices are surely going to be jacked up!

As a matter of fact, this issue may become a major news item as many who rely on cars to get around in the North East in NJ and NYC have lost them and now can’t get to work...(with overloaded trains if folks could even get to them). Some areas around Philly and NYC were pounded and hundreds of thousands of cars ruined.(especially in areas where people could only park on the streets in normal times that were to be flooded by this storm.

This notion came to me this morning as I saw videos of cars upon cars. I was gonna post on it but I saw your comment, so count this as a second to your comments.

Maybe the chips many of them could be salvaged and repurposed(the eproms reflashed) for new cars and trucks that are languishing in GM’s lots right now.

The day after the storm, I saw a video of a gimmedat (apartment dweller, not a business owner) complaining that FEMA wasn’t there and they needed clothes, food, and cars.

That’s an idea, and since it makes sense, the likelihood of it happening is sadly pretty low.

I bought a new Toyota in 2016 just before the election. Who knew if Trump was going to win but I knew if Hillary got in, there went America.

We take good care of our cars and have extra parts, counting on the supply to eventually dry up.

While some of the areas impacted in the tristate area are wealthy, several are dumps abandoned by Americans long ago. For Queens NY and Elizabeth NJ interpreters are voicing the demands of the imported gibsmedats.
