By every relevant metric, Florida's COVID crisis is drastic and getting worse. In a development reminiscent of the spring of 2020, state officials earlier this week reportedly requested hundreds of ventilators from the federal government, to help struggling patients breathe.
Yesterday, however, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) suggested those reports may not be accurate, telling the ABC affiliate in Miami, "I would honestly doubt that that's true." The Republican added, in reference to appeals for ventilators, "I have not had any requests across my desk. I haven't been notified of that."

No idea, it’s why I always want to see context of what is being said. Because it became obvious to myself and others that news is heavily sensationalized.

Pretty much my first thought upon reading the headline. It is msnbc, after all.
They’ll be pushing the Chinese flu angle (especially in red states) real hard now to try to get Afghanistan out of the headlines.
As more an more elderly and frail people in a state with lots of retirees begin to die of something, panic ensues.
Why did you post an article from August 11? And date it as August 25? (It’s now Sept. 3).
They are talking to the bubble people. Anyone who’s outside that bubble knows deaths have plummeted, because of DeSantis’s aggressive push for monoclonal antibody treatments.
