Biden uses deadly NYC Ida flooding to push $1.2T infrastructure bill
NY Post ^ | 09/02/2021 | Steve Nelson

President Biden on Thursday said “the climate crisis” caused deadly New York City flooding from Tropical Storm Ida as he used the disaster to push his $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

Biden spoke after at least 18 people died in New York and New Jersey, including at least eight people who drowned in flooded basement apartments in Queens and Brooklyn.

“The past few days of Hurricane Ida and the wildfires in the West and the unprecedented flash floods in New York and New Jersey is yet another reminder that these extreme storms and the climate crisis are here,” Biden said in a speech from the White House-adjacent Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

It’s not $1.2T, more like $4.6T and includes instituting outright socialism. But mcconnell has already put his stamp on so it is a done deal.

How is pushing the LIE of Man Made Climate Change to promote a bastardized “Infrastructure” bill any different from fund raising for the Tower of Babel?

He’s determined to handle the economy with the same finesse he handled Afghanistan. He’s going to destroy, or should I say his Chinese masters, are going to destroy the dollar. I wish the Republicans would figure this out. He is out to ruin us.

At least four people have died from the effects of Hurricane Ida.
Two deaths in Louisiana and two in Mississippi have been blamed
on the storm, which made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane.

The best part of this pile of dog poop statement was when he lectured the insurance companies TO STAND BY THE PROMISES THEY MADE TO THEIR INSURED PARTIES AND NOT USE THE SMALL PRINT TO DENY CLAIMS. Neither Biden nor the moron who wrote this statement has the self-awareness to realized that they just FAILED to STAND BY THE PROMISES THEY MADE TO THE AMERICAN CITIZENS AND/OR AFGHAN HELPERS THEY ABANDONED IN AFGHANISTAN.

Biden merely shows his ignorance about NYC, for which most of its flooding is self-created, with 90+% of the land paved over or building-occupied, and therefore just where is water from a massive storm supposed to go quickly?

Equally, locally created is an underground subway system that in any great storm cannot block water coming in from the streets and sidewalks above, and if it was doing more to pump rain water out, it would have to run the ends of the lines from such pumping operations all the way across town to open bodies of water, or it would be pumping it back up to the street’s storm drain system which is already carrying all the runoff it can.

I imagine that massive storms in New York City was not such a big problem when Harlem was still populated with dairy farms.

cgbg :" If the last trillion dollars didn’t fix the problem, double down! "

When you build a subway under urban streets, you have to expect those streets will have rainwater runoff.
In NYC, they already have pumps that can pump 2 inches of rain, but this tropical storm dropped 3 inches of rain.
They learned nothing from Hurricane Sandy.
Hey, Schumer , how do they keep the water out of the Lincoln Tunnel - they have bigger pumps in anticipation of problems.
It's not Glow-Bull warming (!); it's called screwing with Mother Nature by putting millions of people in a concentrated area
and when you run out of space, you build apartments and offices higher, compacting them further.
All the more reason to stay out of New York City.

Good point. I also looked at it another way. The government failed to warn people and mandate their withdrawal from their homes. So due to this government mistake the companies have an exclusion and don’t have to pay for lodging. When Biden orders private companies to do things that cost them money, it’s socialism if he runs the companies. AND, it raises the prices for everyone.

I get frustrated. There’s absolutely no reason for anyone to die during these storms.
