Biden calls US operation to evacuate people from Afghanistan [EXTREMELY] successful

The US operation to evacuate people from the airport in the Afghan capital was extremely successful, President Joe Biden said, speaking at the White House in connection with the completion of this operation, Report informs referring to the White House website.

“The extraordinary success of this mission was due to the incredible skill, bravery, and selfless courage of the United States military and our diplomats and intelligence professionals. For weeks, they risked their lives to get American citizens, Afghans who helped us, citizens of our Allies and partners, and others onboard planes and out of the country.”

“Last night in Kabul, the United States ended 20 years of war in Afghanistan - the longest war in American history. We completed one of the biggest airlifts in history, with more than 120,000 people evacuated to safety. That number is more than double what most experts thought were possible. No nation - no nation has ever done anything like it in all of history. Only the United States had the capacity and the will and the ability to do it, and we did it today,” Biden added.

Ninety-eight percent of Americans in Afghanistan who wanted to leave were able to leave, he noted.

“Now we believe that about 100 to 200 Americans remain in Afghanistan with some intention to leave. Most of those who remain are dual citizens, long-time residents who had earlier decided to stay because of their family roots in Afghanistan. And for those remaining Americans, there is no deadline. We remain committed to get them out if they want to come out.”

“So, we were left with a simple decision: Either follow through on the commitment made by the last administration and leave Afghanistan, or say we weren’t leaving and commit another tens of thousands more troops going back to war,” Biden said.

“That was the choice - the real choice - between leaving or escalating. I was not going to extend this forever war, and I was not extending a forever exit. The decision to end the military airlift operations at Kabul airport was based on the unanimous recommendation of my civilian and military advisors - the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and all the service chiefs, and the commanders in the field.”

I am telling you. From yesterday on it will be business as usual. The msm and social media will block any story from day to day about torture and murder to get out to cnn or evening news. BUT I do believe that 9/11 will bring things that will not be hidden. Unfortunately I am afraid we are going to see things like videos and live streams of Americans that have been captured being tortured and it won’t be day to day stories. They hate us. And it scares me the border has been opened since January and the 100k+ of Afghans flown here. Please don’t let us be attacked again on our own soil.

An extraordinary, extremely unprecedented unqualified success!
All due to our Beloved Leader and his Supercalifragialistic planning & execution.

Besides, it was all Trump's fault.

What a laughably ridiculous statement.

Most all of th “snafu's” and otherwise flawed/failed plans were compromised from the start by giving away Bagram!

Everything that followed is a footnote to that. A flawed premise in any realm of human thinking or planning leads unavoidably to failure.

I am not a career politician or military person, BUT I know that allowances and contingent plans MUST be in place ahead of time, so any unforeseen (in this case, predictable) problems can be addressed in a timely way ... and in OUR favor!

How could career politicians and military leaders have permitted themselves to step into this pile of s#@t! It was doomed to fail from the start because we have a clown in the WH and clowns in Congress who routinely approach everything in terms of what's immediate, temporary, material, and personally advantageous!!

If it weren’t for the outside help from various volunteer groups, he’d be looking at thousands less rescued & evacuated.
And please everyone, stop repeating their 120,000 figure. They’re pulling the wool over your eyes. That’s the total number that flew out of the airport, including those rescued & flown out by our allies and charter flights. For the first 10 days or so they were more open about separating the 2 figures, then reporters stopped asking & they stopped saying.
From last I recall, the number flown out on U.S. military planes, was about 35 to 40,000 less. And as I said above, it would have been thousands less without the help of volunteer groups getting people to the airport.

This was my favorite part. (and he tried so hard to look/sound stern):

"No nation - no nation has ever done anything like it in all of history. Only the United States had the capacity and the will and the ability to do it, and we did it today,” Biden added.
