The U.S. military made sure some of its weapons wouldn't fall into Taliban hands while leaving Afghanistan, according to Gen. Frank McKenzie, U.S. CENTCOM commander.

The general, who announced the end of the U.S.'s twenty-year war in Afghanistan on Monday, explained that military forces destroyed dozens of MRAPs, Humvees, and aircraft before they left shortly after midnight Tuesday morning local time, which was President Joe Biden's self-imposed withdrawal deadline....

... much of the equipment the U.S. had provided to the Afghan forces fell into the Taliban's hands but not the 70 MRAPs and 27 Humvees, both of which are military vehicles, and 73 aircraft they left inoperable....

If anything aside from human life was destroyed it wasnt by Biden's orders. The best description I have seen is someone said: "This was an arms deal under the guise of incompetence"

I think McKenzie is lying to save his image. I don’t believe he ordered anything destroyed except Americans’ opportunities to escape Afghanistan.

I think McKenzie’s just talking about the equipment at the airport.

Who’s going to help them maintain all that equipment is the other question. Parts and technical know how they don’t possess, so who are the other key players in this?

Someone had the training to fly that Black hawk that they used as a makeshift gallows. I am also certain that the current occupant of the Oval office WILK send whatever he is ordered to.

Can’t point to the article but one conversation was that some of the afghan army has joined the taliban because a paycheck is a paycheck.

I’d imagine tho, they found an afghani pilot (or maintenance crew chief) who is teaching them at gunpoint. Might even be the hang-ee after the lesson was over.

In 20 years, pilots for sure, and assorted others, trained in the US or used foreign student status to go to US colleges. They’re not the same desert jockeys as the 80’s. We spent 20 years assuming they would never fall to 6th century islam again.

They are already flying Blackhawks - presumably by their former Afghan pilots or Chinese Spec Ops people.

Back when it had its revolution, the Iranian AF consisted of US aircraft. The US placed severe restrictions on what could be sent there. During an interview, an Iranian government official was asked how they were going to service those craft without US parts. He replied, “We’re dealing with American business people here.....we will get whatever we need as long as we pay.”

What not again? Yes, dear, they did it again - left behind at the airport were even more weapons

Here's What The U.S. Military Left Behind At Kabul Airport
Aircraft, vehicles, and at least two defense systems able to shoot down rockets and artillery shells are just some of what was not airlifted out.
By Joseph Trevithick August 30, 2021

At least two Counter-Rockets, Artillery, and Mortars (C-RAM) defense systems ($15 million each)

A total of 73 aircraft, including U.S. and Afghan airframes - A-29 Super Tucano light attack planes, C-130H Hercules transport aircraft, UH-60 Black Hawk and Mi-17 transport helicopters, and maybe seven CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters
70 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) armored trucks
27 Humvees
Many Service dogs - will be shot in sight by the tallies

Easy - just put a gun to the head of someone who does know. They will be glad to teach you.

I doubt they will require much testing and certification.

Its part of ‘The Biden 1 Year Plan to Destroy America’. Its not a retreat, its a surrender.
