Amid the blood-spattered horrors of Kabul, perhaps the most startling response has been an outpouring of warlike passion from disaffected young Western men. But they’re not backing Western soldiers. They’re cheering on the Taliban.
Far-Right groups are gloating. One user on an online message board called the toppled Western-backed Afghan government ‘globohomo-clownworld’. He characterised this as powered by ‘liberalism, consumerism, secularism, usury, democracy, global capitalism… and most of all, feminism/women’s rights/women’s liberation’.
Such men consider abhorrent this value system that an America-led coalition spent trillions of dollars trying to instil, via two decades of Afghan ‘nation-building’.
These alienated men hate all of it – the whole woke world view, from racial tolerance to LGBT rights to feminism. And they’re lionising the Taliban as heroic anti-woke freedom fighters.

“To call the taliban leftist is beyond ridicoulas.”
I didn’t call them leftist, I called them totalitarians which they are.
Weak Minds
Was absolutely disgusting. Still is.
“Dignity”. As if sexual issues show any dignity.
Never mind the clownish prancing around in goofy outfits. “Dignity”.
BTW, What is this “I” in the latest alphabet soup?
That’s one of the best.
Because it’s true how libs behave.
They are 2-faced, at best.
It is not pro Taliban, IT IS ANTI WOKESNESS!!!
And I support it.
“De-industrialisation has driven an increasingly feminised education and employment landscape. Traditional sources of male employment have been replaced by service-economy and caring roles, where physical strength and camaraderie take second place and soft skills are all-important.”
This is a big reason why men are losing. Society has and will continue to change in a way where men’s natural strengths and talents are not as valuable as they used to be .
A lot of this is because dirty jobs and those requiring physical strength are now done more and more by machines and soon robots, which are things invented by men.
So, ironically by making life easier men have reduced the importance and value of their own natural strengths and abilities to society.
Because of this, women can do pretty much what men used to do, so they’re not as dependent on men, on an individual basis, for their livelyhood and protection.
Many men have reacted to this by becoming more feminized. And so have most of the institutions that govern our society. A macho, manly man is now the new nigger. This goes double for white men.
So, no wonder there is this backlash. Question is, how will this reality play out?
One way it will play out is like Afghanistan, where a poorly equipped masculine society with rudimentary weapons beats a feminized superpower.
I’m sure China and Russia and the rest of Islam are learning a lesson from this. But I doubt we and western Europe will.
Noam Chomsky is a libertarian and an anarchist. At least that's what he calls himself. Anarchism and libertarianism are products of the left. The so-called libertarianism that we hear about today, but only in the US, is more accurately called classical liberalism, i.e. a form of liberalism.
Conservatism is also a form of liberalism. Burke was not a fan of absolute monarchies. After all he was a member of parliament. Like most conservatives he believed that there could be a balance between freedom and order.
Yes, fascism was also spawned on the left, but it was a reaction to the failure of communism. The leftists saw that it was hard to mobilize the working masses around abstract economic concepts and thought they would be more successful advancing their socialist and communist goals if they catered to peoples' ethnic and nationalistic impulses. Those leftists who went in for fascism were labeled rightists by the purists who remained in the traditional Marxist camp.
So it seems that most political ideologies today started on the left. Because most of these ideologies were advanced against the monarchies of the day that were supported by an ever-shrinking group that is now referred to as the "Dark Enlightenment". (For more on this google Mencius Moldbug).
The Enlightenment started a process which supposedly gave more and more power to the individual. People could come up with their own religions. People could have a say in their governments. People could start enterprises and engage in freer trade with their fellow men. However the Iron Law of Oligarchy remained true: as societies became larger and more complex the reins of power consolidated in the hands of few politicians and business groups, e.g. The Dutch East Indies Company.
The little guy could have his say politically, religiously, and economically but the big decisions would ultimately be decided by the "adults in the room".
Did the free individuals in Europe really want a WWI or WWII? The Enlightenment was supposed to put an end to the tragedy of religious wars that had preceded it. Instead we got ideological wars that turned out to be even worse.
And all of these wars and other tragedies "voted on" by free individuals manipulated by the "adults in the room" behind the scenes.
In the past the people knew who their monarch was. If he failed miserably they could force him to resign. Until then they could advise him through legislatures but he would still have the final word. Yes it was a bad system. Yes there were horrible monarchs. Yes having monarchs chosen by accident of birth is a bad idea.
However now we are being led by some mysterious coalition of Ivy League grads who don't even have the common courtesy to inform us who they are and which strings they pull. We don't know who to force into resignation (certainly not the doddering Biden) or who to redress our grievances to.
They say that democracy is a really bad way to run a society, but it is better than all the rest.
If the Iron Law of Oligarchy is true, then it might be more accurate to say that monarchy is a really bad way to run a society, but it is more honest than the rest.
Good one.
“I look towards Washington DC and now count the hours before the Federal Government falls due to the worst leadership in the history of our nation and I wonder will we ever recover?”
That’s why they’re gloating. They see our government as their worst enemy.
You still have the quaint, old fashioned idea of America as it used to be, a country with your values. You have to disabuse yourself of that fantasy.
“These men might come to think that Islam offers them a pretty good deal.”
There’s a book that makes exactly that point called “Submission” by the French author Michel Houellebecq. Check it out.
I can see it happening.
“the Left learned their lesson well that it was the citizens of the United States that prevented them from attaining the power they crave.”
Are you dreaming? The left GOT the power they craved - aren’t they running the country?
“To deplore the horrifying excesses of the decadence of Western Civilisation is not to fail to deplore the horrifying excesses of the Taliban.”
The Right needs to hear that over and over. Republicans and conservatives have a very difficult time deploring a thing without endorsing its opposite.
It’s the left that always defends Islam, even - no, especially - after some major terrorist event. Now they are saying it is the RIGHT that loves Islam. It is the LEFT that defends Sharia, and the right that opposes it. Can anyone on the left show that the Taliban is NOT applying principles taken from the Koran and Islamic tradition?
When the left despises our history, our culture, and our traditions, it is just fine. But when the right opposes the left’s destruction of our culture, we are siding with the Taliban! Well, the left sides with China, and back in the day they sided with the Soviet Union.
🐄💩.
The are projecting, again.
Although we have to kill them like dogs, you have to admit that Jihadists have a firm grip on how to treat their women. /SARC
That doesn't mean they support the Taliban.
