There are many here who have their “hair up” about this article.

It should be noted that there are different classes of retired military, three groups in fact.

(1) Those who served honorably and then got out (ETS).

(2) Veterans who actually deployed to a fight, got out and are now subject to the VA.

(3) Those who are actually on the “Retired List” and draw a pension.

Many here are members of two or all three of these groups. The article is referring to the third group. Members on the Retired List are under orders. They carry an I.D. card, they receive pay. They are indeed as pointed out in the article subject to the UCMJ. As such they are subject to many of the same restrictions active duty military follow.

Ever go to a veterans event? See all the guys wearing field dress, or parts thereof? As Veterans they are permitted to do that. They enjoy the same freedoms really as any other citizen.
Folks on the Retired List cannot. By regulation members on the retired list are restricted to Class-A uniforms or above. In case of the Army, in place of the unit patch on the left shoulder they must wear an “Army Retired” patch. No other unit insignia save the Regimental Affiliation crest can be worn. No Presidential Citation awards can be worn. No other unit crest can be worn. Veterans can wear pretty much anything they want.

Bottom line, you give up some things to be on the payroll. If that is too much to bear, get off the payroll.

Only applies to Commissioned Officers as far as retirees goes. NCO/Enlisted have no such restrictions.

Wow, that seems pretty broad. So every veteran in the house, senate, or other political office should be silent or step down?!

This notes “Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and Department of Defense Directive 1344.10.”

I suspect this has a lot more to do with the “Department of Defense Directive 1344.10” than with Article 88.

Two Lieutenant Colonels who spoke out against their chain of command.

One was lionized by the press and protected by the intelligence community. The other was fired within 24 hours.

Gosh that’s odd....because nobody seems to have told retired generals they weren’t allowed to say all kinds of slanders and other garbage about Trump or risk losing their pensions and security clearances under the UCMJ.

So how come NOW they aren’t allowed to criticize the POTATUS?

Four years of disgraceful behavior towards Trump and a coup. Just fine. Right Mad Dog? But Biden’s diseased brain kills and now it’s by the book.

Hinges on “disrespecting”.

Truth and honest opinion cannot be disrespect.

Saying he is not elected and illegitimate is not disrespect.

Saying it seems like he has Akzheimers is not disrespect.

Looks like Adm. Curt Copley has firmly got his footing on his new job at ONI that he can taken on the important tasks like ordering retirees not to disrespect our brilliant and wise great president.

When one of limited capacity reaches his level they usually understand their limit and have a trusted sidekick that can take them aside, in these cases, and say “Sir, you can do that but it is really stupid, perhaps we should do it this way”.

It looks like Curt has no restraints, so it is going to be entertaining to watch what he comes up with next as he shifts into high gear wokeness. Fortunately, he is not in a position that he can do much serious damage to the country.
