A Florida judge ruled Thursday that a case may proceed against former Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, a school resource officer who was widely criticized after he failed to confront a shooter during the deadly massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February 2018.
Broward Circuit Judge Martin Fein denied a motion to dismiss 11 charges, including counts of felony child neglect, according to Peterson's attorney Mark Eiglarsh.

That seems to be a bad name to have…
I don’t know how he looks into the mirror knowing his cowardice allowed several people to be murdered.
That coward should be eliminated from the planet earth.
Will Hogg testify on his behalf?
Three-and-a-half years, and still no trial either for Peterson or the shooter. Has Florida not yet learned that “justice delayed is justice denied”?
A bit of a tug of war over his person. There are some who want him to pay for his cowardice, and others who want to pretend he was a decent fellow.
Back and forth.
“He went home safe. That’s what matters...”
Blue line horseshit

That truly is a disgrace. I was talking about this sort of thing to a lawyer friend of mine the other day. He said the courts like it that way. By dragging things out there’s more of a chance for a plea bargain. And plea bargains save the courts time and money.
I guess that makes some sense. But it’s very bad for society in general. It makes it look like no one is getting punished for anything.
He’s no different from the copper who murdered AshleeBabbit. He, the AB murderer, thinks he saved countless lives and was near heroic. Of course, coming from a loser who loses track of his loaded Glock in the bldg, what can you expect?
Both were hired to do security theater, indifferent to competence. Unlike unarmed mall guards, however, they were allowed to be armed — probably to soothe their egos.
And people died.
Good...
But it is very profitable for the attorneys at the bar.
Just goes to show you the level of corruption in a deep blue Florida county.
Going to be hard to obtain a conviction that will stick. I suspect that the defense will point to the policy at the time which was containment, not engagement.

You might be right. At least this coward will be getting the bad publicity he so richly deserves. And maybe his attorney fees will bankrupt him.
He should be at ground temperature...
A plea bargain is nothing more than allowing a criminal to set their own punishment, this makes no sense regardless of which side of the argument you are on!
Well, he didn’t CONTAIN IT VERY WELL, DID HE
Depends on the circumstance. Not going to put my life on the line fighting ANTIFA in a city where they are just going to release them. But this guy was put in charge of the safety of children. He was definitely a coward. Cowardice in warfare where you put your fellow members in harm is subject to execution. Cowardice in this situation would cause me to question my existence.(Just Saying)
Well I guess that depends on your definition of contain. If the intent was keep the gunman at the school, then he succeeded. Contained to a classroom, not so much.
