The takeaway is, the only way ‘back into’ Kabul, is to retake Bagram not KAB.

One element of the thinking may concern additional attacks on the airport, carried out or permitted by fractious elements of the Taliban. With a hopefully “vetted” cadre of Taliban inside the perimeter and in harm’s way themselves, such external attacks would be far less likely.
