The U.S. ambassador in Kabul has told staff there that four U.S. Marines were killed in an explosion at the city’s airport and three wounded, a U.S. official with knowledge of the briefing said. Two explosions ripped through crowds of Afghans trying to enter the airport on Thursday.
At least three U.S. troops were injured, a U.S. official said. Witnesses reported multiple fatalities among the Afghans, many of whom were trying to enter the airport because they had assisted U.S.-led coalition efforts and feared persecution by the Taliban.

Hard to do, he thinks he's doing a great job, not kidding.
this General is not instilling confidence that the Pentagon has this cluster well in hand!
Pentagon spokesman: “my working assumption” the suicide bomber detonated vest as our military guys checking him at entrance to airport. The suicide bomber had already supposedly been searched at Taliban checkpoints at outer perimeter.
Do we even still have graves registration in theater, AND the necessary aircraft etc to PROPERLY return these Marines and Corpsman to the US?
Nope, sounds like a government bureaucrat.
If by “searched” you mean ushered through then yes!
Hmmm
This general doesn’t instill confidence
Definitely agree with that. I think most everyone understands that much. However, he should go. Is there no such thing as taking responsibility? Along with several key people directly responsible, ie state dept, Milley, Austin, etc
Until we take the house / senate in 2022, it’s going to be a very hard couple years. Then a Trump/DeSantis ticket would bring true leadership back into the WH.
I am also sickened by him self congratulating himself and his troops, particularly this soon after so much death and destruction. His sense of timing stinks
Said just now it was “a failure” on the part of Taliban “security” and that “some of those guys are strict and some are not.”
Who would have believed our military would be relying on Taliban security before this happened?
Why do the elderly have to walk trough xray machines and bomb sniffers prior to boarding a flight, and we don't have that level of screening at the Kabul airport where afghans walk thru a machine before getting close to a marine?
Others will understand. He needs to be made an example of.
Yes, a pox on both their houses.
I guess because the machines are inside the airport and our marines are at the outer gates of the airport grounds.
This whole thing was planned ... no, make that not planned. All of this was predictable. State knew, intelligence knew, our military knew. They are lying when they say they were caught by surprise.
Had we planned and carried out a normal withdrawal, none of this would be happening. It’s sad when the bumbling UN does a better job of withdrawal than the USA.
BTW, the British are saying not only did Biden not allow them to have any input on the withdrawal “plan”, they were not informed of the plan or ongoing steps being taken. They are not amused.
We knew this was inevitable when the Taliban released 5,000 hard core prisoners, including manyIsis and Al Queda soldiers.
And our guys were told to stand down and MYOB.
All part of Biden’s Deal.
It’s difficult when you are counting body parts, not whole bodies.
Sky just reported Biden will give a press briefing today at 5 pm EDT.
We’ll see what he has to say for himself…..
I want to see them all burn in hell- Biden/Harris/Pelosi/Chucky/McTurtle/Snow/and on and on and on. Both sides are dirty, evil, rotten bastards
