Nearly two dozen California students and parents are among the thousands currently stranded in Afghanistan after taking a summer trip to visit family.
Twenty-three students from the Cajon Valley Union School District, just outside San Diego, are stuck in Kabul with their parents after traveling to the war-torn country, the LA Times reports.
They are trying to make their way to the airport or board one of the US military flights out of Kabul before the Aug. 31 deadline to withdraw US troops arrives.
It was not immediately clear when the families arrived in Afghanistan, but Cajon Valley Superintendent David Miyashiro said they had traveled there on special visas for US military service.
They had gone to the country to visit their extended relatives, including their grandparents.
It was not a school-sanctioned trip, according to the district
The families had return flights to the US so they could be back for the start of the school year.
Some of the families were on their way to the airport in Kabul when chaos erupted as the Taliban seized control of the city, according to the district.

They are not “stuck”.
They are hostages.

I don’t know anything about a hotel suicide bombing.
What I read about was at the Airport in Kabul.
There were 24 children and 16 adults in this group.
So, I would say probably not.

I was being facetious.
The believe the closest Disney Park to Afghanistan is in France.
Maybe the French can rescue them.
Remember, sElections have consequences.

I’m waiting for the real story since no one in their right mind would allow their child to vacation in Afghanistan. Bingo. From the LA Times article:
Miyashiro said that the families are on special visas for U.S. military service and that the Department of Defense considers them allies.
The Department of Defense "considers" these schoolkids to be "allies"??? WTF.
Also, don't you think that a week into this story, there would be a name of one of the kids or one of the families? Or an interview with one single relative anywhere in the US?

You are most welcome. The mods seemed a little touchy yesterday so............... Saw a couple threads pulled for “search still works”. LOL!

Any “refugee” who vacations in the “old country” is prima facie not a refugee.
Exactomundo. And in addition to visiting fambly, they were doubtless scheming to get those same relatives into the U.S., perhaps even arranging marriages. And now they're all stuck there! Of course we'll move heaven and earth to return them to the U.S., along with a contingent of their barbarian relatives.
