Dozens of California students and parents are stranded in Afghanistan after taking a summer trip to the country.
More than 20 students and 16 parents from the Cajon Valley Union School District in El Cajon, Calif., visited Afghanistan on summer vacation. Now they are among thousands of people who are waiting to leave the country amid the chaotic U.S. withdrawal that has caused political unrest across the nation, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Cajon Valley Superintendent David Miyashiro alerted school board members on Tuesday that he would be meeting with Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to discuss the situation, the Times noted.

i always wonder the same thing when some american is arrested for being a spy while in Iran or some similar shithole country. Conventional wisdom would say you should avoid such places but for some reason their are perpetually geniuses that think they are special and can do what they like. Then the world falls on them and they want heroic efforts made to free them.

In the future all these foreigners, legal and otherwise, who become us citizens will be making trips back to their unstable countries and when stuck there demand the US rescue them.

Years ago I was visiting northern CA (Nappa). A friends son ask us where we were from (MD). Oh, isn’t that in Southern CA? Nothing existed outside of CA.
Its Afghanis who may be holding green cards or passports, and probably many without - living long-term in Afghanistan. They are plucking all the PR and media strings possible.
Its complete MSM nonsense that American school kids and teachers are taking summer field trips to Afghanistan.
Or the couple that was bicycling around the world that got murdered in a terrorist occupied country by ISIS. When virtue signaling goes wrong.

Occasionally, an American will be taken prisoner on the Iranian border, or the North Korean border. They are usually paraded around and made really uncomfortable as their propaganda or hostage potential plays out. I’ve found that if you investigate the individual they all have a similar background. They’re uber-liberal. Often, they have made media posts about the wonders of communism and how awful the US is. The media is often silent on the person’s background and instead lays heavily, during Republican administrations, that this is an American citizen and the administration is not doing a thing to help them. During the Viet Nam war the idiots would travel to nearby countries and backpack into North Vietnam to show “solidarity.” To my knowledge they were all executed. I was listening to an analyst talking about these incidents and he said the Vietnamese knew full well what they were but chose to execute them as “spies” anyway for propaganda.
I’ll wager this crowd was sent over by a university to show how horrible the US was. While I feel sorry for them, anyone stupid enough to go there on their own... without hazard pay for some particular contractor job, or being sent by the US government for some purpose, is risking being an example for the rest of us on the perils of stupidity.
Summer trip to Afghanistan? You really have to wonder about the fruits and nuts that populate California.
First lesson (Maybe Last) - No matter how "Woke" you may be, vacationing in a War Zone is probably not a good idea.

They are repatriated Afghanis who went to visit extended family in Afghanistan—my guess is they had wanted to visit grandparents before country was turned over to Taliban...
