SALEM, Ore. — Oregon was once the poster child for limiting the spread of the coronavirus, after its Democratic governor imposed some of the nation’s strictest safety measures, including mask mandates indoors and outdoors, limits on gatherings and an order closing restaurants.
But now the state is being hammered by the super-transmissible Delta variant, and hospitals are getting stretched to the breaking point.
The intensive care unit at Salem Hospital in Oregon’s capital city is completely full, with 19 of the 30 beds occupied last week by COVID-19 patients, the youngest only 20 years old. It’s the same at a hospital in Roseburg, a former timber town in western Oregon. A COVID-19 patient died in its emergency room last week while waiting for an ICU bed to open, an event that was deeply distressing to the medical staff.

The CDC admitted the test cannot distinguish between flu, cold virus or covid. Still they use it.
They’re lying, we know they’re lying, they know we know they’re lying, still they’re lying.
I’m in SW rural OR and the local commie rag paper said 9 covid deaths in my county in the last 3 weeks. Suppsedly.
4 had been vaxed.
All but one was 70 or older.
All but one had “underlying medical problems”.
I saw the Twitter post discussing the same information.
I have a relative who is an ER/ICU doctor in Oregon. No doubt about it that the governor is a leftist Democrat. Agree there is little positive evidence that masks work.
However, in Oregon there are also other health issues contributing to the rise in hospitalizations. Yes, poor air quality with the fires (not all of Oregon is next to the ocean), also large immigrant population working in agriculture, lots of hippy-dippy types vaping all sorts of organic stuff (eye roll) - all of which cause lung irritation and inflammation which contribute to getting respiratory disease.
The government/hospital administration has also repeatedly failed to increase ICU/ER bed capacity. They have additionally reduced doctor hiring and tried to replace them with NPs who don’t know what they are doing. The hospital our relative works at is the only COVID approved hospital for southeastern Oregon and part of northern CA. Patients are coming from a huge distances and then find there are no beds and ER wait times are hours long. Doctors and nurses are getting PTSD from the working conditions.
