Fox News anchor Chris Wallace grilled Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday over President Biden’s claims about the crisis in Afghanistan, repeatedly calling the commander in chief’s statements ”flat wrong.”
“The president said al-Qaida is gone. It’s not gone,” Wallace said at one point. “The president said he’s not heard any criticism from the allies. There’s been a lot of criticism from the allies. Words matter, and the words from the president matter most.”
In a Friday speech, President Biden defended the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and the effort to withdraw thousands of Americans after the fall of the government to Taliban forces. But multiple fact-checkers also noted that Biden made several inaccurate or misleading claims, including referring to al-Qaida as “gone” from Afghanistan.
“What interest do we have in Afghanistan, at this point, with al-Qaida gone?” Biden said Friday, speaking from the East Room at the White House. “We went to Afghanistan for the express purpose of getting rid of al-Qaida in Afghanistan as well as getting Osama bin Laden, and we did.”
Although al-Qaida has been significantly reduced since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan two decades ago, elements of the terrorist group continue to exist in parts of the country. Wallace cited a United Nations Security Council report in June that estimated that adherents of al-Qaida remain in 15 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces...

Chris can STFU and own this.
I read the bits of the interview that were in the article. Blinken is just flat out lying, he knows it, Wallace knows it and presses him on it...so Blinken just rephrases the lie.
Amazing.
Chris Wallace will go with whatever seems popular at the moment. And today it’s popular to question Biden’s decisions. Who knows hat tomorrow will bring.
“Chris Wallace will go with whatever seems popular at the moment. And today it’s popular to question Biden’s decisions.”
So true. Just like his old man, who was a reprobate of the first rank. His old man publicly said that he’d basically screw over the US for a good story.
Susan Rice lied through her teeth about Benghazi and the deserter...I don’t recall the MSM being all that upset.

If so, why didn’t we leave during the Obama/Biden years?
Nothing Biden says makes sense.
But we knew that already.
Unelected illegitimate coup d’état vote fraud “administration”.
Back to the usual FR “shoot the messenger.”
Who cares about who interviewed Blinken or why, and what is the point of juvenile insults of the interviewer?
What about what Blinken said?
I believe this is the same interview in which Blinken repeated, today, that it’s up to Americans to get to the airport by themselves.
The problem isn’t with who interviews these people, it’s with what they say - and the fact that there’s virtually no reaction nationally. Everybody now just seems to be shrugging and going back to business as usual. Certainly that’s what our elected representatives are doing.
So you think Chris’ behavior at the First Debate didn’t make a difference?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the powers that be got rid of Joe Biden this week in order to cover up the Arizona audit. Phil Mudd on CNN basically set the stage. Joe is gone, 2020 election fraud is irrelevant… overstate has you covered nothing to see here. Let’s move on to the next election… even Mo Brooks tried to sell it…. No one is buying. The one thing the current regime cannot have is American troops being drug through the streets of Afghanistan… if that happens… we’ll it starts with a T. That is why they aren’t going into the city to get our folks out. They can live with some rando American getting killed. We are all serfs to them an ways. Here is the funny thing…. I got signals in the media that Britain, Russia, and wait for it…wait for it China…. No shit China wants Trump back… the world is destabilizing faster than the elites can control and they are all in the same club. But what do I know.
“If so, why didn’t we leave during the Obama/Biden years?”
To be fair, Obama wouldn’t have listened to him about this subject because he is never right on any issue and Biden was busy capitalizing on his position for his family.
Wallace and his handlers OWN this and should be indicted.
I don’t respect either of them.
That’s long over and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. Make sure he doesn’t get to be the interviewer next time around, but who knows what’s going to be happening by the time the elections roll around? At this rate, we’ll be under China by then.
We need to focus on the real problem, which is not some two-bit interviewer, but the absolute incompetence of the idiot he is interviewing.
Blinken should resign.
That actually sounds plausible, but unfortunately we live in a post-sanity world.
Take out the Taliban leader and give them Birddog back!
It’s not like he wasn’t warned:
“Gates Stands By Statement That Biden Has Been Wrong On Nearly Every Major Foreign Policy Question”
One thing you can count on is that those who have taken power illegitimately will never give it up unless they have secured their own survival…. Their are 3 scenarios that I can see playing out this week and only one of them is good.
Blinken is the smahtest and most capable SOS we ever had.. Well except for John Kerry...
After all. He went to Hahvahd and is just as talented as Kamala Harris when it comes to...oratory skills.
The dishonest (Wallace) challenging the dishonest (Blinken) about the actions of the dishonest (Biden) over his dishonest statements about withdrawing from Afghanistan.
What's the point in wasting your time?
