The University of Washington Medical Center denied organ transplants to patients who refuse a COVID vaccine as early as June 2021. And hospital officials refuse to answer basic questions about their policy.
In fact, they won’t even directly acknowledge they have a policy.
The Jason Rantz Show on KTTH has learned that UW Medicine removed a 64-year-old patient from the transplant waitlist. He says he was on the list for two and a half years. The hospital made the decision after they learned the patient refused to be vaccinated against COVID. They said they would consider adding him back to the waitlist should he satisfy their “compliance concerns.”

Perhaps they are concerned that it he isn't willing to take a vaccine, he may decide that he doesn't want or doesn't need the drugs necessary to prevent rejection of the transplanted heart.
But doctors will still treat inmates, murders, junkies and child rapists I bet

Hospitals prioritizing care for non-Whites. Care denied to unvaxxed. Is there a pattern here?
If he gets the shot prior to transplant, even if no complications...the anti- rejection drugs he would have to take should he get a transplant would make him open to covid anyway despite the “previous” shot. His immune system couldn’t mount a very good defense. If he gets the shot after the transplant he might not be able to create any antibody defense at all.
Still no word out about post transplant patients on anti rejection drugs and covid...I’d bet that would be interesting to find out.
Not to mention the fact that spike proteins work against people with heart issues.
My father-in-law was forced to take the jab to get his cataract surgery. He’s got bad heart issues and it’s a miracle he’s alive to begin with. I wonder how the jab will impact him? This is less than a month ago.

At least there is logic in requiring a patient with an alcohol abuse problem to enroll in an alcohol recovery program as alcohol directly attacks the liver.
Transplant hospital are certified for transplant procedures and must meet very strict criteria. The HRSA is the federal agency that controls and oversees these certified hospitals. It seems doubtful that an independent hospital would do this without a directive from HRSA.
My husband is a heart transplant recipient, and was on the list for two weeks before he received his transplant. I recall from eleven years ago, a person can only be on a transplant list for six months and must be approved again for reinstatement which is a rigorous grading evaluation. Two and a half years is a long time to wait for a heart if the person is in good health without other underlying conditions.
