How many of us here and all over CA have been preaching about water desalinization plants for years? What does Sacramento do? Fast rail to nowhere, emptying reservoirs for some stupid fish, increased welfare, and on and on.

CA is literally sitting on top of the largest ocean in the world—with the best high tech companies in the world—and they have a water shortage.

You can’t make up this stuff!

Just six nuke-powered desalination plants (10 GW each) could make enough fresh water to cover all of California with an extra foot of water each year, using desalination plants with 4 kWh per m^3 efficiency. Of course it would take a lot less than that to only make enough water for the central valley, i.e. the main agricultural land, as opposed to for the entire state.
