HOUSTON — Houston police are looking for tips in a case where they said a driver was surrounded by a group of men on ATVs and bikes and then shot to death.
This happened on Friday night around 7:20 p.m. in the 9000 block of Westheimer Road near Fondren.
According to investigators, the group of men on the ATVs, dirt bikes and bicycles surrounded the 48-year-old driver and even tried opening the driver's doors. Someone then pulled out a gun and fired shots at the driver as he tried to get away, police said.
The driver, who was hit at least once, crashed in the 7400 block of Westheimer near Hillcroft and died at the scene.
Police do not have any details on the suspects and don't know the motive.

Take a moment to notice something beyond the obvious “oops”: the big steel ball DIDN’T PENETRATE. Would have gone thru any other car window like it wasn’t there. Encountered a group of +/20 kids on motorized bicycles on Westheimer near the Galleria a couple of weeks ago. They occupied all lanes of traffic, popping wheelies, and generally acting the fool, showing off for a couple of carloads of girls following along.
They didn’t seem to think that anyone driving should pass or otherwise share the road while they were so occupied.
Would not be surprised to learn that the victim here got annoyed at being blocked, and the mob decided to enact “justice” for being “disrespected”.

Hard to say if this was an innocent victim or another gangsta who was recognized by somebody in the hood.
I saw last week that over 70% of shootings in the hood are done BY previously incarcerated people TO previously incarcerated people.

I have seen these packs of ... urban youths... in DC, in Baltimore, in Philadelphia. They are a traffic menace but local police are either too undermanned to deal with them or are under orders to ignore them.
