Nearly 900 state employees and more than 200 of their spouses took advantage of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s vaccine incentive offer after he rolled it out last month, records show.

The Republican governor announced the offer — $100 for employees and $25 for their spouses — as COVID-19 vaccination efforts stalled amid spiking case numbers and hospitalizations.

“We are hopeful the enhanced incentive encourages any individuals on the fence regarding the COVID-19 vaccine,” Dan Tierney, a DeWine spokesman, said Wednesday.

A day earlier, DeWine said his office has told every health department in Ohio that the state will be there if they want to try their own incentive program.

“If you think that will work in your community, we will be there to help support that with the dollars,” DeWine said.

For the upcoming Aug. 27 paycheck, the state submitted incentive payments for 882 employees and 218 spouses, according to records provided to The Associated Press by the Department of Administrative Services....

I believe that this was retroactive--meaning state employees who were vaccinated months before the announcement of this incentive could submit documentation that got the vax and get the 100 bucks.

There are about 49K Ohio employees who did not apply for this incentive.

Wow... how little they think of their bodies.

I would not take it for one million dollars.

Hmm. A lot of the employees might value their bodies.

They didn’t get a lot takers on the incentive if, as I believe to be the case, an employee could qualify for the “incentive” if they were vaxxed long before the incentive was announced.

We’ll see what we find out from Ohio Freepers who might be related to state employees after Lowell pings out to them.

$100 is roughly 25 cans of 24 oz. Colt 45 Malt Liquor or 10 packs of smokes, who could turn that down?

Considering the price of cigarettes, that’s a pretty good deal on those cans of .45.
