Secondly, yes, the Taliban is not the NVA. The NVA had a few thousand Soviet-built tanks and was a regular army. But the ANA was not as tough as the ARVN, was it?
Thirdly, I am sorry to say that it is my generation of Service Academy graduates who have helped make this debacle real. Our foreign policy, intelligence, and defense establishments have failed the country.

Do any Americans care about the “killing fields” that will take place in Afghanistan? Nope.
Did Americans care about millions slaughtered in the “killing fields” in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge after we ran from South Vietnam? Nope.
Do we care about the upcoming slaughter of women, children, friendly Afghans, translators, etc.? Did we care about the innocent Cambodian civilians slaughtered back in the 1970’s? Nope. Nope.
I am not against us leaving, but not before the United Nations establishes a presence in the country, allowing a peaceful withdrawal, and NATO establishes a 16-nation military presence other than wishing for a peaceful, “political” settlement.
What hypocrisy — by the USA, U.N. NATO, European allies, etc.
Price? The taliban wants Afghanistan. The sooner they let foreigners leave the sooner they get it

Some ARVN units fought well to the end. In a few places outside Saigon the made the NVA pay a price. But Congress had denied them weapons. The ARVN AF even MacGyvered a couple of fuel air explosive bombs to try and stop the NVA.

Lord in Heaven these are ALL apparatchiks of the Chi-Coms, the masters and owners of the Taliban. Xi has already said they are prepared to “recognize” the Taliban as the government of Afghanistan.
Chi-Coms succeed where “Russia, Russia” did not (and don’t forget the US cultivated Osama bin Laden in the mujahedeen, so he could later “reward” us by organizing the al-Qaeda to attack the US on 9-11 and... BEFORE under Billy Boy Clinton). But of course, the non-Communist Russians definitely are the enemy according to the Chi-Com owned hillary bots and the obamaumao-Commie muslims. Sure.
