Open Letter from CIC Fellow Rina Amiri: Can We Act Urgently to Prevent Kabul Becoming the Biden Administration's Srebrenica Moment?

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am getting reports from Afghans on the ground that 5,000 Taliban fighters are in Logar waiting for the order to march into Kabul. There are another few thousand in Surobi, less than 50 miles from Kabul. I cannot verify this information but it is clear that at this stage Kabul will more likely fall in days or at best a few weeks. There are many women activists, journalists, and human rights defenders at high risk. They are high on Taliban kill lists.

There is an assumption that the Taliban are going to be humane because we have been talking to the 15 negotiators in Doha. But the Taliban on the ground have been targeting and killing women, journalists, judges, and civil servants in provinces where security forces and people have peacefully surrendered, and there are daily reports of atrocities taking place. We must judge the Taliban by their actions rather than our own illusions of their rehabilitation.

There are hundreds if not thousands of people in Kabul who have been openly criticizing and advocating against the Taliban for years. They are at risk of being massacred. …

… I don't wish to over-dramatize matters, but the signs point to a Srebrenica or Rwanda moment.

Will we do the right thing this time?

I am appealing to you to act on your conscience and use your position and voice to hold the administration accountable for preventing atrocities in Afghanistan and to make the case to the public about what is at risk.

America is at its best when it acts from a place of principle and moral courage. As an Afghan once said to me, "Without principles, America is just another country."

Best,

Rina Amiri

“Tragic mess in Afghanistan, a completely open and broken Border, crime at record levels, oil prices through the roof, inflation rising, and taken advantage of by the entire world—DO YOU MISS ME YET?” - Donald Trump 8/13

If Biden cared about Americans, our southern border wouldn’t be gushing Wuhan carriers and fentanyl. His disdain for Afghanis won’t even move the needle on the give-a-sh*t meter. And the media will go to the ends of the earth to cover his monumental incompetence.

Afghanistan was never salvageable. Whatever one thinks of the Afghan culture, the only thing we could have done was build a proverbial wall around the country and develop around them, with the sure promise of retribution if their culture spilled out into neighbouring countries.

They operate in the open. It should look like to Stukas over Dunkirk on their concentrations. Just as a final finger.

But it won’t.

Afghanistan should have been broken up like Yugoslavia was. It’s not a real country.

I guarantee you Trump would have made an ironclad deal with all of the interested parties to avoid just this kind of chaos well before he pulled the trigger on any kind of pullout, with severe penalties for any of the parties breaking it. In a few short months we've gone from the world's most famous dealmaker to a senile dunce.

I don’t think Trump could get an ironclad deal. Islamacists don’t do permanent deals. All deals with them are temporary, until they are ready to wage war again. That temporariness might be thirty years, if we killed enough of them. However, it would never be permanent.

That’s probably the only solution to protect parts of the country that do want to modernize. Cut it up and give the parts to neighboring countries that can ensure their protection.

Yeah, sorry lady.

We’re in the beginning of our own slaughter.

From the very office you’re asking to end yours.

I’d wager they are plotting to take the US Embassy on 9/11.

I’m not sure one can do anything for these Afghani people at this point.

I see that CARE is advertising for people to send them money so they can feed Afghani families. But I don’t see how any of that money or food could make it past the Taliban to get to any poor families.

Let the liberals and UN attempt to deal with the mess. I wish them luck!

But the Taliban on the ground have been targeting and killing women

I gather they kill men as well?

Look up the history of Nanking, China. I expect we will hear about this kind of history about Kabul in a few years.

Who is stopping these people from defending themselves? How many billions on equipment and training did we waste?

And let’s never forget the lives of our sons and daughters wasted on people who all too eager to drop the weapons we gave them and fall to their knees to once again become the slaves of 7th century barbarians.

China is next in line to make a great mistake, Afghanistan and China deserve each other.

It would have been long enough to avoid the sh!tshow we're seeing unfold here.

As an Afghan once said to me, "Without principles, America is just another country."

Thanks, Mr. Afghan (if you are even real) for your advice about my country.

Now, GTFO and take care of your own country, and let me take care of mine.

Rina, sweetie, have you been living under a rock? Joe Biden is known for sniffing young girls hair, pinching their nipples and acting very handsy at many events. He has credibly been accused of rape by Tara Reade which you have chosen to ignore.
Joe Biden does not have the courtesy to appear before the nation to discuss his orders to evacuate our Kabul embassy. His advisors Joint Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Miley, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, SOS Anthony Blinken, Susan Rice and many of the Obama Cabal are getting the job done. Do you think they care about women, or American soldiers?
Please.
