U.S. consumer sentiment dropped sharply in early August to its lowest level in a decade as Americans gave faltering outlooks on everything from personal finances to inflation and employment, a survey showed on Friday.
The University of Michigan said its preliminary consumer sentiment index fell to 70.2 in the first half of this month from a final reading of 81.2 in July. That was the lowest level since 2011 and one of the six largest drops in the past 50 years of the survey. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the index would remain unchanged at 81.2.

Bet this will help Bidens poll numbers...better poll more democrats
That’s weird....I have no idea why——

Even lower than last year when this crap started. That is significant.
Gold and silver prices on the rise, go instability
I hope real inflation (food, energy, retail purchases) spiked hard soon. People need to suffer personally for the decisions they’ve made with regards to their politicians. As long as leftists are suffering as much (or more) than conservatives, I’m good.
Friday the 13th.
(Just saying)
Xiden destroying American one step at a time.
Just wait until people learn about Joey begging OPEC for oil. Confidence will soar to new heights.
“Four more years”
“Four more years”
(Sarcasm)
Biden/Harris suck........Big time.
Never forget the “adults are in charge.”

How the left has taken America down to spite a very successful President, Donald Trump.
I had financially, the best 4 years of my life under Trump.
Also managed to launch a private cyber security company.
Only a fool would take a private company public under Marxist Biden.
“Sentiment?”
What happened to “Confidence?”
FRICKING LIEBERALS!
“As long as leftists are suffering as much (or more) than conservatives, I’m good.”
I like the way you think.
Doesn’t show up in tax receipts for the current ongoing fiscal year....
(Worthy News) – The federal government set a new record for the amount of taxes it collected through the first ten months of fiscal 2021 (October through July), according to the Monthly Treasury Statement.
Total federal tax receipts were $3,318,078,000,000 for the period.
When federal tax receipts from previous fiscal years are adjusted for inflation into July 2021 dollars, the second-highest tax receipts for the October-through-July period came in fiscal 2017. That year, the federal government collected $3,055,690,570,000 in taxes (in constant July 2021 dollars) in October through July.
You get what you vote for. Not us. THEM. But the rain falls on the just and unjust.
Now is a great time to retire if you can make it work.
You definitely want to be riding on the wagon and not pulling it....
It is significant. I think the constant moving of the goal posts and re-imposition of restrictions (and adding of new ones) have destroyed people’s confidence in their lives and the future.
You don’t go shopping when you don’t see any future. Nor do you open a business or do any other of those good things when you see how easily the government can take it away from you.
I’m sure if Senile Joe squints hard enough through his pudding-crusted eyes he can see green shoots, just like in 2011!
I’m thinking the same thing.
