If Republicans won't defend the Capitol, the Constitution or even themselves, it's hard to see how they can claim to stand for anyone — or anything — else. That's what Tuesday's hearing was really about — for the Democrats, for the police who testified and for the two Republicans who said serving their party and the country aren't mutually exclusive goals.
McCarthy, facing a similar choice, has decided to follow Trump rather than the truth.

Somewhat related (at least to me) — We know (or believe) that NSA “has everything”. All your emails, all your phone calls, everything.
Why? When would they use it?
When a traitorous Secretary of State makes classified documents available to foreign powers? Would NSA reveal the details? No.
When a sitting president is unjustly impeached over false information? No.
When an election is stolen and a usurper is put into the White House? No.
What is the point of gathering information is there is no conceivable scenario under which that information would ever be used?

The Constitution is a piece of paper and the capitol is a pile of bricks. We stand for the principles behind the Constitution, and for the People who those principles belong to.
