Vietnam recorded 9,653 new local Covid-19 cases on Thursday, the nation's second highest daily number ever.
Thursday's infection tally came only after 9,684 cases recorded on August 8. It included 2,226 cases detected in the community.
The five localities which recorded the highest numbers of infections were Ho Chi Minh City with 3,841 cases, Binh Duong with 3,028, Dong Nai 1,071, Long An 354 and Tien Giang 212, all in southern Vietnam.

"The country has vaccinated over 12 million people with at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot. Over one million of them have been fully vaccinated."
Maybe the communist leaders can drive around in their limousines to make things better.
Nobody is driving anyone anywhere at the moment.
Basically the southern part of the entire country, is closed at the moment.
I haven’t been out of my apartment, in a month and a half.
We’re probably closed down, for another two months, anyway.
Reminder to America, we still have approximately 100,000,000 people here, waiting on vaccines. Please help!
I thought that the communists were going to bring perfection to Vietnam?
They killed 55,000 Americans to prove they could do it.
How can a perfect communist country like Vietnam have this problem?
What they don’t say is how many have recovered.
It is like every body gets it and no one recovers.
That was a LONG, long time ago, and a whole heck of a lot more Vietnamese died.
A very long time.
I think only Americans really think about it, any more.
The Vietnamese basically got over it. I have only run into two Vietnammese who are still bothered by running into an American.
Two. Surrounded by millions and millions of Vietnamese.
In five years.
Even up north.

Why did the U.S. military intervene in Vietnam?
To destroy the Soviet Union.
And we did.
Yeah! More people will have natural immunity! Yeah!
Actually I think it is around 4%.
Just going from my impression, please don’t quote me on that.
I would rather they get immunized’, than the current (4%?) casualty rate here.
At least I think that is what I heard.
So you’re saying that 4.0% are dying? Just making sure. Since everywhere else it is 0.2% at best; that seems EXTREMELY high.
vietnam, averaged, is 1.9% mortality
a total of 8 million, averaged, have been vaccinated
https://covid19.who.int/region/wpro/country/vn
however, an article from July 30 says, “So far, Vietnam has had a total of 1,022 Covid-19-related fatalities out of 133,405 infection cases, equivalent to a rate of 0.76%. This rate has been increasing in recent days. Most of the fatalities are documented in HCM City.”
https://vietnamnet.vn/en/society/vietnam-reports-159-new-covid-19-related-deaths-761141.html
so, either the death rate increased from 0.76 to 1.8 in two weeks, or somebody’s fudging figures.
I don’t know for sure.
There is a local reporter I sort of follow who was questioning that number about 3 days ago, haven’t heard more yet.
I think people in Vietnam, like in Asian countries, are at low risk.
I dunno.
Vietnam is most definately an Asian country, but I was thinking actually the risk for Asians is actually higher?
I think.
I suggest you look at deaths per people, a list of all countries. You should find it at our world in data.
