Norfolk-based USNS Comfort was deployed to help treat patients in the early days of the pandemic. Mississippi health officials hope it can be deployed again.
NORFOLK, Va. — Hampton Roads could send help to one of the COVID-19 pandemic's hardest-hit states.
Mississippi has requested the federal government send a military hospital ship such as the Norfolk-based USNS Comfort to help its overloaded hospitals with COVID-19 patients, state health official Jim Craig said Wednesday....
The University of Mississippi Medical Center has 127 COVID-19 patients, including 26 children, Dean LouAnn Woodward said Wednesday. About 90% of them are unvaccinated, she said.
The dean warned, "The Mississippi hospital system will fail within the next five to seven or 10 days if the current trajectory continues.”

That’s not fair.
There are plenty of fat white people, too.
Your conspiracy in this case is misplaced, and foolish.
I’m just noting what’s in the enemedia, what info is unavailable, and asking questions.
Everything I’ve said is verifiable.
What’s your problem with asking questions?
BTW, NN, they’re not conspiracy theories anymore.
They’re spoilers.
Oh yeah, yahoo news. Great source there. Why not just link some cnn footage to go with it
Negroes
State is almost 40% black
They do t like vax but they do mask nicely
There’s an irony there...
This is the UMC dean...a known Dem activist so I’m suspect and note they asked for the ship before
Yep
Your agenda is a conspiracy. Your demand for hospitals to report daily directly to legislators calls for an additional burden during a crisis to satisfy your conspiracy theory. Meanwhile, you infer the central management of ICU bed availability is a conspiracy. You are on a fool's errand for conspiracy. That is all.
Yes they will run their pos algo like they did in 2020 and generate any number they fancy. Pretty soon there will be more filled beds than capacity.
Total bullshit
Wonder if part of the purpose of the hospital ship is to cost shift some the state’s Medicaid burden to the federal taxpayer...
_____________________________________________________________
Mississippi only pays about 23.5% of its cost of Medicaid as it is. The other 76.5% is picked up by the Federal government already.
Because every August has an influenza outbreak…
Not in my home state in august it’s not...
Today in Jackson it’s 95 degrees and 93% humidity...the humidity will go down as it heats up but it’ll be still prolly 80% humidity
This article is propaganda based in some fact
Yes cases are up
No it’s not bring out your dead yet either...I do no buy the line in the article that 26 children at umc are in there for Covid
Unless they are preexisting cystic fibrosis or chemo laden
Suspicious on that claim
There's no doubt they've had a surge but it's hard to judge how bad it really is. I would advise people to follow whatever numbers they trust and not fall for the never-ending propaganda that's being slung around.
Wanna bet MS would like to pay even less?
Here’re two more questions....
NYS counts asymptomatics, probables, and repeat positives of the same patient as new cases.
Does MS?
NYS doesn’t break down hospitalization stats for in WITH CoupFlu and in FOR CoupFlu.
Does MS?
Inquiring minds want to know.
FWIW, I think there’s is some doubt on the surge.
Try finding out the cycle threshold for the lab doing your testing in NYS.
Does MS make that info readily available?
Bet it doesn’t...
Funny how in the US these nitwits say “About 90% of them are unvaccinated, she said.” yet elsewhere in the World they say half and half or majority vaccinated. I do not believe any “leaders” in this compromised country.
Unvaccinated fat black people. Same thing happening right now in Louisiana but the media only wants to talk about Florida, Texas, and unvaccinated white Trump voters.
Save your hostility for your buddy NN
I was just pointing out that MS was paying a fraction of what it is supposed to toward Medicaid.
The current data SUPPORTS [but does not PROVE] an association between population vaccination rates and case rates.
But recall, the NY (and Northeast) surges happened when it was cold (2020 and 2021 both) and the FL and sunbelt surges (2020 and 2021 both) happened when it was hot.
So, the data also supports but does not prove an association between being indoors (for heat in the Northeast and for AC in the South) and case rates.
Right now, the top vaxx states have the lowest hospitalizations and deaths (ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI, NY), but we are all also living outdoors in our sadly short warm season.
As soon as it gets cold again, we will see what happens.
Of course, the needs in the sunbelt are real and they are serious, more evidence for the Flubros that they have read the situation wrong.
Vaccinated or unvaccinted?
