The GOP groups of two Wyoming counties have both voted to no longer recognize Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as a member of the Republican Party, the latest moves against the congresswoman months after she voted to impeach former President Trump.
Martin Kimmet, the chairman of the Park County Republicans, wrote in a Thursday letter to Cheney, “You will no longer be recognized as the official Republican Congressional Representative by the Park County Republican Party,” according to the Casper Star-Tribune.
The Carbon County Republicans followed this move by voting unanimously to back a formal resolution denouncing Cheney.
Carbon County GOP Chairman Joey Correnti told the Star-Tribune, “Park County set up the ball, Carbon County spiked it.”
“And now other counties, I say by the end of the week you’ll have at least three or four other counties that are having meetings that will pass a similar resolution,” Correnti said, adding that Republican parties in Uinta, Big Horn, Laramie and Weston counties have requested copies of his county’s resolution.
The Park County letter and the Carbon County resolution contained similar lines, both ending with, “In the immortal words of the 45th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump ...‘You’re Fired!’ ”
Cheney has received several public rebukes from members of her own party for her vote to impeach Trump, as well as her continued criticisms of the former president's repeated false claims of a stolen 2020 election.
The Wyoming state GOP in February voted to censure Cheney for her impeachment vote, and she was eventually removed from her position as House Republican Conference Chair in May.
Cheney was replaced as the No. 3 House Republican by Rep. Elise Stefanik (N.Y.), who received the backing of Trump, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).
However, the Wyoming congresswoman has continued to stand by her opposition to Trump, and Cheney spokesperson Jeremy Adler said in a statement to The Hill Tuesday that she remains undeterred by the latest move by the local GOP groups in her home state.
“Liz will continue to fight for all the people of Wyoming,” Adler said. “She knows that she and all elected officials are bound by their duty under the US Constitution, not by blind loyalty to one man.”
Cheney already faces eight primary challengers for her seat ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, and Trump has promised to throw an endorsement behind a Cheney opponent of his choice.
She can win if there is a split.
Wish we had someone in Wyoming who can give us the lowdown..
Worrying.
they have only just now come to the conclusion that she is a liberal disguised as a republican? she’s been virulently anti-Trump for years now
When it gets closer seven of the eight should withdraw and endorse the strongest opponent
Eight is by design to split the vote and keep her in office. If the GOP were serious there would be one challenger who is backed in full. Seen this multiple times, wake up.
She made her bed. Completely unnecessary.
If I had to guess, Liz has already cut a lucrative deal for herself separate from her “elected” position. It will be interesting to see where she winds up.
ALL counties should be doing this AND the leaders need to all endorse ONE (the same)candidate to run.
This is just grandstanding if they can’t keep her from running as a Republican.
Kick her out.
Don’t even let her on the primary ballot as a Republican.

Jeremy Alder.
Graduated from college in 2015.
Who can kick her out ? Only the GOP chair.
Unlikely to happen with Deadly Dick, a former VP as her father
Although I agree with you entirely...
Makes it look like these statements by the GOP are just more
This was the RINO formula for winning elections in the past.
No more.
Once Trump makes an endorsement, everyone needs to get behind him/her. No squabbling about who is more conservative. Our unified purpose should be to purge the RINO-traitors who assisted the Democrats in the 2020 Steal.
This is what the RINOs fear the most. Donations to the RNC have evaporated. They can run as many challengers as they like, but in 2022 the all-important Trump endorsement is going to bust that grift wide open.
We're coming for you, RINOs in 2022!
Cheney wouldn't win if there were a 100 challengers today. There are always plenty of challengers, most of whom are irrelevant. By the time of the primaries and after the Trump endorsement, the other challengers will be on the dump heap. Cheney's done.
Good questions.
I too doubt they’ll kick her out. But that’d be the best way.
Ditto that......
Rep. Liz Cheney (Fixed.RCoC*-Wyo.)
You hit the nail on the head. Eight challengers and no runoff. Seventy five percent of Republican voters could vote against her in the primary and she could still win the nomination. And re-election.
Herlawyer husband works for a law firm that does work for the CCP, her challengers need to speak up
