Could you blow into a bag before drinking and then just expel that air into the device when you want to drive?

The whole concept is silly. But then, so is congress. And Joe.

It is, but what bothers me even more is this mileage tax. F THAT! We already pay tons in gas tax and now they want to tax how much we use?

This will put many college town attorneys out of business.

Didn’t they have a fatal accident where the drunk started the car by having h8is 5 year old daughter blow into the breathalyzer? So on top of insulting nondrinkers it’s also easy to beat.

The daughter would have had to keep blowing in the device. The machine makes you re-test at random intervals while the car is on. If you fail X number of times, the horn sounds/headlights flash until you pull over.

Also, in Illinois you're required to have a camera installed as well. All to prevent this type of scenario.....

Yes.

Instead of actually punishing the specific offenders effectively (including the multitude of their enablers), the Democrats (including their RINO enablers) instead have decided just to punish everyone in the true spirit of non-judgmentalism.

Since this is going to be real popular with voters once word about it gets out, you have to wonder if the provision isn’t just a prop for the negotiating Kabuki dance when the Senate and House versions are reconciled.

“passively monitor the performance of a driver”

I wonder how they would quantify “performance”. I imagine they might catch a lot more in their net than just the drug and alcohol impaired. It might even include normal drivers trying to avoid a dangerous situation.

The used vehicle and vehicle parts businesses are going to be booming if this remains in the final, passed bill.

This is seriously unconstitutional. It presumes guilt before innocence.

No one thinks anyone should be driving drunk. But what is next? These “Presumption of guilt before innocence” efforts need to be stopped in their tracks period.

Switch to weed. System bypassed....

Already doing that in my neck of the woods. And there's a body count to show for it.

I have no sympathy for drunk drivers, but my fear is this:
Your wife is chased by a bad guy and she makes it into the car and tries to drive away but the system fails at that point for some reason unknown.

Some of the post DUI system installed by the county have a camera in them with the image sent to the county or accessible by the probation officer. With the new tech, they could simply have a camera with facial recognition.

The future’s not looking too bright.

95% of Congress critters are going to be in trouble if this is allowed to stand. They will not always be supplied with drivers. Not many are sober at work, let alone when they drive themselves.
