Senate Passes $3.5 Trillion Partisan Budget Plan, Clearing Way for Sweeping Government Expansion

The Senate approved the framework of a $3.5 trillion budget plan in a key procedural vote on Wednesday morning, allowing the body to move towards a final vote on the issue.

Senators voted to advance the framework 50-49 along party lines, with Senator Mike Rounds (R., S.D.) absent. The vote came just before 4 a.m. following a “vote-a-rama,” during which senators introduced amendments for largely symbolic votes designed to test the level of Senate support for various issues.

The plan provides for universal pre-kindergarten, free two-year community college, tax incentives for clean-energy sources to fight climate change, and an expansion of Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing. Democrats hope to cover the cost of the plan in part with tax hikes on corporations and high-earning families.

“Senate Democrats have just took a massive step towards restoring the middle class of the 21st century,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said after the vote. “What we’re doing here is not easy. Democrats have labored for months to reach this point….But I can say with absolute certainty that it will be worth doing.”

Republicans unanimously opposed the plan, saying the amount of government spending in the proposal during a time of rising inflation is reckless.

I am SICK to my stomach about these bills passing. Anxious and worried about my kids.
But like you it seems my husband’s lumber/commercial supply business did better under Islamocommie than Trump but it by no means affected the way we vote.
Or the way we feel about Big Gov & regulations...runaway spending.

Chuck Schumer then hired a Venezuelan bus driver as his chief of staff.

The election in GA was already fixed. Haven’t you been watching how the “machines weighted the votes”, or how many times they can scan the same ballots, or mail in ballots that have never been folded?

Why worry about 2022, until the crimes of the 2020 election are addressed.

I think we would have had a better chance. I’m aware that Fulton and Chatham Counties could just whip up some extra Warlock and Oss-Off ballots in that case, but all those people staying home was not good.

Of course. Some of them are outright collaborators.

The taxes and reckless spending is stomach turning bad, but no discussion about the amnesty provisions. That’s the Fat Lady singing to me. Am I missing something here?

Correct. Perdue and Loeffler will live in infamy for certifying the stolen election after:

1)Promising not to.
2)Asking for and receiving heavy campaigning from President Trump during the run off election. Perdue in particular ran radio ads incessantly of Trump endorsing him.

Nobody forced them to request Trump’s support and in return we got kicks in the teeth. With Republicans like that who needs Democrats?

Maybe for you, but I voted for Tim Scott ... a black conservative Republican. I did not vote for Graham. So be careful how you “classify” everybody in SC.

Percentages are misleading....for example Pres. Obama rang up $8.3 Trillion in debt in 8 years for a 69.98% increase in debt, whereas RR rang up $1.86 Trillion in debt over 8 years for his 186% increase.
