YouTube takes down second Rand Paul COVID video and suspends him from posting for a week

Sen. Rand Paul is fuming after YouTube censored the second one of his videos for violating community guidelines on COVID-19 and suspended him from posting more videos for a week.

“They are now banning all my speech, including speech that is given on the Senate floor, which is protected constitutional,” the Kentucky Republican senator told reporters on Tuesday. “YouTube now thinks they are smart enough and godly enough that they can oversee speech, even constitutionally protected speech.”

YouTube last week removed a video of an interview the Kentucky Republican senator did on Newsmax.

Paul discussed his suspicions about the origins of the coronavirus, his feud with Anthony Fauci over what funding for research in China’s Wuhan lab came from the United States, and argued that most face coverings do not help stop the spread of the virus.

Paul, an eye doctor, then recorded, and on Aug. 3 uploaded, a second video chastising YouTube for taking down the video and promoted one of its competitors, Rumble. He defended his comments on masks.

“Saying cloth masks work, when they don’t, actually risks lives, as someone may choose to care for a loved one with COVID while only wearing a cloth mask. This is not only bad advice but also potentially deadly misinformation,” Paul said in the video.

YouTube responded by taking down that video as well, saying that it violated YouTube’s community guidelines. On Tuesday, Paul’s office said that the company imposed a seven-day ban from posting more videos.

Why does he depend on Youtube for his messaging?

He can’t afford a website or anything?

I wish there was a way for YT’s servers to be suddenly obliterated.

YouTube needs consequences. I mean serious consequences. They are an enemy of freedom and free speech.

Lucky for him this is a free country./S

Suspending a sitting senator.

Clearly they have no fear of him.

These commies are wasting no time grabbing and exerting their power, and don’t care if it’s done by unconstitutional means. Stealing the election certainly wasn’t constitutional either, but that hasn’t stopped them. Let’s hope it doesn’t come down to violence in order to preserve our Constitution and Bill of Rights but it’s sure starting to look that way.

Well, we can’t trust doctors to give correct information about medicine. Can we?

Dr. Rand Paul is one of my Senators and so I sent him the following via email. Thoughtful comments welcome...

***************
Congratulations on being banned by YouTube for a while.

For quite some time I’ve thought that social media companies like YouTube, Facebook, etc. should be considered like a utility company and not be able to ban someone for their political beliefs. So far, even Democrats have not suggested that someone be cut off from their electricity because of their politics. But they allow, and even help, social media companies to cut off people from their services because of their politics.

This latest “Infrastructure” bill nonetheless includes money to add internet service to areas where service is not what most of us enjoy. It seems that the only way to justify this spending is to consider internet service, and by extension YouTube, Facebook, etc., as essential utilities. And if these are essential utilities they should not be able to ban users for their political views any more than the electric company should be able to cut off someone’s electricity for their political views.

Full disclosure: I do not have any social media accounts due to my desire for privacy.

Thank you,
real name

Eventually, Google, Twitter, Youtube, Facebook will be brought to heel. The only question is when.
