Catholic Bishops Tell Supreme Court to Overturn Roe So Unborn Children Can be Protected
Life News ^ | August 9, 2021 | Dave Andrusko

As we have over the past two weeks, we are continuing to examine amicus briefs filed in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which the Supreme Court will hear this fall. ... crucial point: “[w]hether all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional?”

The brief was filed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, joined by two Catholic Dioceses in Mississippi, and other religious groups.

Here are three points made in the amicus brief:

#1. “The Constitution does not create a right to an abortion of an unborn child before viability or at any other stage of pregnancy. Abortion is inherently different from other types of personal decisions to which this Court has accorded constitutional protection.” An asserted right to abortion has no basis in constitutional text or in American history and tradition.

It cannot be emphasized enough: there is no foundation in the Constitution or in American history or tradition for a “right” to abortion.

...

#2. The USCCB amicus continues, “Quite the contrary, abortion prohibitions have been common throughout American history, including during the colonial and founding eras, in 1868 when the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified, and in 1973 when Roe was issued.”

...

#3. And “Multiple state interests justify prohibitions on abortion.” Those interests are spelled out:

The State has an interest in protecting human life. This is the most fundamental of human rights as it concerns the right of a human being to exist; without it, no other right is possible. ... integrity and ethics of the medical profession. The purpose of the profession is to heal and alleviate pain and suffering, not to destroy human life or to cause pain and suffering as abortion does.

What hypocrisy.

They are all-in for abortionists Biden and Perry, but now they have the nerve to ask the Supreme Court to stop abortion that is mandated and funded by the “Catholic” politicians they put in power and give Communion to in spite of their sinful murderous practices.

Maybe there’s a new Martin Luther out there. Killing babies is worse than selling indulgences.

It is about time that the bishops spoke up. Father James Altman was right in that the children should be protected. He also said the bishops should speak up. Bishop Callahan was wrong when he asked him to retire. Maybe God has started to infuse real faith into the Bishops here in this country. Also, anyone who is Catholic and voted democrat did something wrong. Democrats have a platform that is immoral. To vote for that platform is sinful. Father Altman was right in that regard too and Bishop Callahan was again wrong. Let us hope Bishop Callahan gets some guts!

There is one giant reason to overturn Roe vs Wade. It is unConstitutional! It was disallowed by the 10th and 11th Amendments to the Constitution. Regulation of it belongs to the States and not the Federal Government. Please read them below:

10th AMENDMENT

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

11TH AMENDMENT

The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops needs to STOP Catholic Charities from spreading COVID infected illegals around the country and killing our citizens... Adults and children who are citizens ALSO matter...

The word you are looking for is "Alleluia," I think. I don't believe in demanding penalties for lizards, cowards, and nincompoops when they stumble into doing the right thing. Yes, they should have lost their croziers for sucking up to Biden et al. But this is a critically helpful move at a critical time.

And I don't have to say it, right? That the word "they" mostly represents the actions and statements of two different groups of bishops. This time, the good ones pulled over some cowards and got it done. With the number of allegedly orthodox Catholics on the Court, with the right wind, the movement to upend Rowe could actually pull away from the dock and ready its big guns. Especially at a time when the bad-Catholic Democrats' screw-ups (looking at you, Andrew Cuomo and Joe "Borders" Biden) are all over even the fake news.

Protecting preborn babies has not been their primary priority.

The National Right To Life Committee, via their stooge James Bopp, produced a worthless amicus brief in the case:

James Bopp has actually opposed overturning Roe and Casey.
