With just a few weeks until school begins, the homeless encampment at Broadview Thompson K-8 in Seattle is growing, violence is spiraling out of control, drug dealers make regular stops to the site and sex workers work the area and nothing seems to be happening in order to have the encampment removed before the first day of school.
An email obtained from the Broadview Thompson PTA to the parent body advises parents to "Stop by the encampment and meet Mike and his team."
"Mike" is Mike Mathias, who has been tasked with dealing with the encampment by Seattle Public Schools, has an extensive criminal past as well as addiction and mental health challenges, who so far has claimed he has gotten people out of the encampment and into shelters and services while the encampment keeps growing.
The email asks for donations and then said, "SPS has installed a gate at the north end of the camp, to discourage campers from going through that neighborhood at night." Additionally, the email said, "SPS is in the process of installing a fence along the walkway leading from the park to the school playground in anticipation of being able to open the back gate before and after school in September."
One neighbor said to The Post Millennial, "Why would they need the fencing if they were not planning on making the encampment permanent? Shouldn’t they just clear the encampment?"
"Now the neighbors are locked out of their park, and one of the assailants has the key, deciding who comes and who goes. Seattle Public Schools is now letting a violent individual manage their property."

Well, that’s just your opinion, man.
[bike paths] == [future homeless camps]
They need to be at least two shopping carts wide.
That’s what they voted for. Oh heck, who are we fooling? The parents are probably thrilled at the prospect of their offspring mingling with the exalted homeless.
Given that the Seattle Law Enforcement community is being told to work from home, due to fear of the homeless surrounding their headquarters, I don’t expect any quick resolution to this little problem.
Some of those solutions involve backhoes, right?
A box of rattlesnakes would get things cleared out.
“You know, there are solutions to this problem.”
Won’t be long before they’re implemented, I think.
Unfortunately it won’t be soon enough.

These people are suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome if they don’t have control over their own neighborhoods. When libs chose homeless over the children you know that they are mentally ill. Perhaps terminally ill.
Want some candy, little girl?
Ya suppose the “city council” or one of the parents will do something NOT IF, BUT WHEN some little boy or girl is raped, murdered, or kidnapped?
Backhoes and lead, measured in grains!
If this was a Disney movie, the “homeless” encampment would be populated by a properly diverse group of eccentric yet wise geniuses who just couldn’t fit into normal society. They would befriend the school children, give them sage advice about their interpersonal issues with friends and family, and help them with their science projects. At least one of the homeless would be a Wise Latina who dispenses motherly advice to the children.
Into this idyllic arrangement would intrude some huffy, prejudiced local official (Republican no doubt) who would seek political advantage by demonizing the homeless geniuses and trying to get their encampment removed to “protect the children”.
A plucky little girl (the star of the movie) from the school and her friends would organize a “Save The Encampment” movement and do funny things with dogs and balloons to garner attention of local and national “news” broadcasters. His attention so garnered, the wise Governor (Democrat no doubt) would step in, preserve the encampment, and give all the bums better tents and a medal each for “helping children”.
The End.

I clicked “Post” one time, so help me. Then there was the spinning circle of death for about a minute, while I touched nothing, and then this. Go figure.
However bad this sounds from reading the article?
It’s at least 5x worse. On any level you choose to look at it. Over the milennia people have done some stupid sh*t - but whats going on here has to be near the top of the all time list.
“Mike ....has been tasked with dealing with the encampment by Seattle Public Schools [and] has an extensive criminal past as well as addiction and mental health challenges...”
I know that the Seattle Public Skools will hate to see Mike go, but he will fit right in with the rest of the city council!

Better yet - buy hotels for the homeless and come up with a snappy name “Health through Housing”.
The latest property (A Holiday Inn) cost $17.5 million and will house 99 homeless people. Other hotels (18 total now??) that the county has bought were older and needed millions in repairs as well.
I went there for ninth grade. Still a good school, the problem is just the homeless encampments.
They can convert all the hotel and motels to homeless accommodation. There’s no more tourist trade in Seattle
Naw. The kids need to pack up and tell mama and daddy commies that they have had it and are moving to free America!!
