Hot off the press: Nixon to resign, on Aug. 8, 1974
Dispatch ^ | 08/08/2021 | Paul Souhrada

Back in 1974, Republican leaders, particularly in the Senate, were worried that President Richard Nixon, post-Watergate, would sink their chances in the next election.

Rather than circle the wagons around the embattled leader of their party, they circled the wagons around the Capitol, and it was only a matter of time before Nixon knew he had to go and hand the keys to the White House to Vice President Gerald Ford (who took over the previous October after Spiro Agnew resigned amid his own problems) or risk impeachment.

I wonder what would have happened if Watergate never happened and Nixon completed both 2 terms? No Carter or Reagan or Bush Sr?

***Nixon to resign, on Aug. 8, 1974***

And on this same date, the STAR tabloid carried a headline in super BIG letters, “JEAN DIXON SAYS NIXON WILL NOT RESIGN!”

Ten years later, Jean Dixon’s publicity dept was claiming she had predicted his resignation. I remember another case in the PARADE newspaper magazine in which she said he would NOT resign.

“I wonder what would have happened if Watergate never happened and Nixon completed both 2 terms? No Carter or Reagan or Bush Sr?”

I don’t know but it would make a great alternative history novel

Nixon was a little to liberal for my tastes but he wasn’t really a bad president and shouldn’t have stepped down.

I wonder what would have happened if Obama and Biden were run out of the WH for siccing their FBI dogs to spy onto Trump like Nixon was run out for covering up the spying that private citizen Republicans did on Democrats at Watergate.

Watergate was just a convenient excuse. They really wanted to get Nixon for his involvement with HUAC. They thought they got rid of him in 1960.

And that is the point where the Commies in Congress and the Media knew that they had the upper hand in moving their Anti America/Pro Communist agenda forward.

And here we are.

I have often wondered where we would be right now had Todd Beemer and his fellow passengers stayed in their seats. My gut tells me that we would be in a much better place right now.

Very few know Nixon saved Israel from destruction.
He re-supplied them after the ‘73 war and the Muz retaliated with the Oil Crisis.
Watergate was another retaliation.

If you look at a lot of Nixon’s accomplishments as President, it reads like a liberal’s wet dream.

But again, he was a marked man by the Left because of his involvement in HUAC. He was the first victim of “Cancel Culture”.

Long before James Comey, and RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA!, Nixon was taken down by a rogue FBI agent, Mark Felt

I wonder what would have happened if Watergate never happened and Nixon completed both terms?

How about if Nixon had shaved on the afternoon of September 26, 1960? There would have been no Bay of Pigs, Berlin Wall, Cuban Missile Crisis or Vietnam War. On the other hand, there probably would not have been a Reagan Revolution.

They say if you listened to the debate on the radio, Nixon won, but if you watched it on TV, Kennedy won.

I was going to say that’s when the tyranny started, but Lincoln takes the cake. Started the war of northern aggression when the south just wanted to be left alone.

Nixon was a smart guy but his demons got the better of him.
