TOPICS: Government; Miscellaneous; News/Current Events; US: Indiana
KEYWORDS:
You may recall some of us were surprised by him voting to advance the bill the other day...

Well, he has changed his position and was not one of those voting to advance the bill last night.

Well done to Senator Young for having the integrity to change his position.

Did they have a cloture vote last night? I haven’t been following this monstrosity in detail. I’m just pretty sure they are DESPERATE to pass it before this Thursday (Aug 11th) when July’s Cost-of-Living Index is released. I’m pretty sure the number they announce will be horrendous.

Nobody’s fooled by this.

It’s the old “vote for cloture but vote against the bill” gambit.

Help the bill get passed but pretend to be against it.

Ron Paul used to do that a lot, as I recall. Oppose bills when they will get passed anyway, but for them when party interests are on the line.

I have to take him by his word. He has been good on other issues. Like I said in the link he was the surprise on the list of usual suspects.

Guess he got an earful from constituents!

Shame the others dont give a damn :(

HAlf the GOP are on board.. How on earth do you get rid of half the Senate GOP?

Virtually impossible and they know it.

"Help the bill get passed but pretend to be against it.

correct, as anyone that has paid attention knows, the real vote is the cloture vote.

Don’t be fooled. The whole Senate GOP is rotten and controlled. They just keep their “opposition” cover up as well as they can. In this case, it was 17 votes needed, so they had their best/safest 17 for such a vote cross the aisle.

Why do these politicians always call spending ‘investment’?

I know the game they play but this seems genuine and I’m not ready to give up on Young just yet. He has shown promise on other issues and is still new.

Time will tell.

He is literally one of a handful I like(d).

I don’t know how someone who could even consider that package could be a pol you’d back. Plus, the cloture game.

He’s a puppet and his strings are being pulled. Unfortunately.
