I don’t care about case numbers. Fatality numbers are what tell me how serious things are. Deaths are quite low.

IMO we have national natural immunity already. All adults already vaccinated, plus all those already carrying the anti-bodies having had the virus, I believe gives us a huge percentage of the population carrying the anti-bodies and therefore enough for natural immunity.
There will always be a handful to defy the antibodies and come down with covid, and then the pesky illegals who are systematically spreading the virus around the country - mostly red states like Texas and Louisiana. That’s another story!!
So at that rate, just wait a year and we will all have it and it will be over with.
In January, vs the original virus, case count hit 250K/day in the US with 4400/day deaths. That’s under 2%.
The lambda variant swept Peru in May. They were getting 1000 deaths/day for 10,000 cases/day.
That’s enroute US. Come December call it 300,000 cases/day of lambda and 30,000 deaths/day. Roughly 7.5X last winter.
If the number just crossed 100k, how could it average 100k? Unless the set of averaged numbers was one day?

You do understand that, UNLIKE THE U.S., Peru doesn’t test everybody and their brother repeated. So their “case” count will be relatively low compared to their deaths. That’s different than in the US where if two fragments of a virus floating in the breeze ended up settling in your nasal passage and you’re tested… YOU BECOME A CASE.
I saw that on the "Ingraham Angle" last WED, 8/04. He was from the University of Guelph (Ontario). And yet I haven't been able to find a citation of it on the internet. Basically he hypothesized that COVID virus could easily mutate its single spike protein that the Pfizer/ Moderna "vaccines" causes the human body to produce for supposed immunity. A single protein mutation in the virus would render the "vaccines" ineffectual.

Well, I think there is some merit in that perspective in that the US in winter was testing often. Not so now, as vaccinated people think they are bullet proof and they have to be really sick to get tested. Which makes the current surge in cases ominous. People are not doing drive thru testing if they are vaxed. They only get tested if sick.
In Peru the measurement is May, with awareness elevated (versus US Jan) and their odd weather had temps in the 80s, even at altitude, driving people to cluster into AC. As it cooled down, people got back outside and death counts have fallen in recent weeks.
But regardless, Peru was seeing 10% of cases die to lambda. Lesser variants don’t even reach that number if the patient is hospitalized.

Notice that the FOCUS continues to be on "new cases" and NOT on any out-of-control DEATH rate.
The tactic continues to be... "frighten and alarm the SHEEP" by broadcasting the infection rate. Yet, many of those infected have ALREADY been vaccinated.
Those who understand how vaccines function would expect the above. Because Vaccines DO NOT BUILD a shroud of bullet proof glass around the body. If you get close to infected person, the virus material will float into your respiratory system (unless you stop breathing, which I do not recommend). And you will get infected and could test positive.
That is where the vaccine comes in. Those jabs have prepared your body with anti-bodies waiting to kill the virus when it floats into your body. And being vaccinated, you will have much better chance of defeating the virus before you end up in the isolation ward of a hospital.
And you are correct about focus on new cases but not deaths.
In my common sense opinion, a case is more good than bad. By getting the virus in your body your body can start building anti-bodies, which is path towards herd immunity.
