Nike CEO: We Haven’t Been More Vocal on China’s Abuses Because ‘China’s a Very Important Market’
Breitbart ^ | 08/06/2021 | Ian Hanchett

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” Nike CEO John Donahoe responded to a question on why Nike hasn’t been more vocal on human rights issues in China by stating that they participate “in sport all over the world, including China. China’s a very important market for us.” And maintained that they have “a very responsible global supply chain.”

Co-host Sara Eisen asked, “Some are wondering, John, why you have not been more vocal, as a company, around some of the human rights abuses in China, when you have been so out front on societal and social issues here in the U.S.?”

Shades of the 1930s when corporations, especially Hollywood, didn’t speak out against Hitler, for that very reason, they wanted access to the lucrative German market.

Just like CNN, who refused to report Saddam Hussein’s known atrocities, because they didn’t want to lose their Baghdad office.

That was true years ago when first said
and it is still true today.
These industries always think they won’t be directly effected and don’t give a damn about the ‘little people’ who are the first to lose their freedoms.
The New York Times has the same detached attitude.

So that's an admission that money takes precedence over morals and ethics. Not really such a high-minded, "woke" company after all, are you?

Brilliant business plan - you've already alienated conservatives with your "wokeness." Now you're going to alienate the loony left by not being woke enough. :-/ How much does this guy get paid? I mean, I'd be willing to make equally bad decisions for them for probably half what he's getting.
