Teachers union sues Rhode Island mom over critical race theory public records requests, cites teacher privacy

The Rhode Island branch of a major teachers union is suing to block a school district from fulfilling a mother's public records requests, citing the sheer volume of requests and concerns about teacher privacy.

The case revolves around a mom, Nicole Solas, who caught national attention for her quest to address critical race theory (CRT) in her child's district. School board members previously considered suing Solas over her copious records requests – at least 200 – but declined prior to the recent lawsuit.

"We are asking the Court to conduct a balancing test to determine whether our members’ privacy rights outweigh the public interest," said Jennifer Azevedo, who serves as deputy director of the National Education Association Rhode Island (NEARI). "We believe they do, and those records should either not be disclosed or should be redacted accordingly."

Remember people saying if you’ve nothing to hide you’ve nothing to fear?

Well, hey do those in government seek to HIDE so much of what they do?

D*mmit, play by leftist rules.
Dox the school board.
Do it.
Now.
And let nature take its course.
Let them worry about night time...and things that go bump in the night.
Let them worry a lot.

Teacher Privacy? In public schools? Which part of public are you having trouble grasping with your brilliant teacher minds?

What teacher privacy? Is this a new doctrine? Or are they just making stuff up, as usual?

"Teacher Privacy" ????

OK. I'll give on that. Now apply that rule when Mr.Benson, your daughters 10th grade science teacher, grooms your daughters into gangbangs in his van.

There is no “Teacher privacy”. Teachers are hiding their leftist pagan initiatives from us. They are evil.

It is my understanding that the Mom is requesting public information. If so, the lawsuit against the mom should be dismissed.

Schools exist because of public will and funding. Teachers, books and material are paid for by the taxpayer. There is absolutely no right to privacy. The public has a right to see everything taught, every person who teaches, everything that goes on in a public school.

Conservatives must take charge of the school boards by election!!

In my religion, founded by Jesus and largely based on logic, reasoning, And natural law, from the Holy Spirit, it is well known, studied and documented in its tenets for anyone to easily research, that Parents are the primary educators of their children

Whenever I discovered a teacher unwilling to share with us the breakdown of curriculum I simply removed the child from that classroom. That includes, and especially so, the Religious educators at the church

I moved my kids around like it was choosing where to eat lunch.

Home school, charter, public, Catholic. They took charge of their own studies.

The secret to not allowing the government schools (that includes parochial schools) from being in charge of raising your children is certainly not in the court system, another corruptocracy) having one certain provider low expenses (modest real estate in safe neighborhood).

Check out those schools on a regular basis. Talk to the teachers especially during parent teacher days

And most definitely no day care with stranger or anyone but the parent for the first three years. That is the critical time for development of trust in the world.

Day care kids. Grandparent raised parent neglected kids will not grow up to discern whom to trust and whom not to trust.

These kids are to be left to preserve our constitution.

Get a clue moms.

CRT. No. This is an obama incited divide and conquer method to destroy our country.

Parents stop being overgrown children and take your freedom away from the court systems. Oy

Counter sue. Become a 50,000 pound weight on the teacher. Refuse to let go. Make an example. It’s what the bureaucracy does to us when they have frozen, paralyzed, and isolated us when they choose to play. Play back.

I plan to remember everything I've learned about public schools and teachers' unions the next time teachers and administrators whine about needing to raise my property taxes so they can have more money. From here on out, my answer is hell no. Never again.

Because if we actually knew what they were doing they would be hanging from lamp posts. But it's never too late. Just make an example of a few.

This is exactly the excuse my daughter’s school gives every time I ask a question:

Me: “My daughter said someone tried to pull her pants down in class, what happened?”

Teacher: “That’s private.”

Me: “Is my daughter being bullied or picked on at school?”

Teacher: “That’s private.”

Me: “My daughter came home with a bruise and said a boy kicked her in the leg. Why is this happening?”

Teacher: “That’s private.”

One more year of this and she goes to Catholic school.

I have been saying this for years.

These Public Employees have NO legitimate justification to be members of ANY Labor Union at all.

IF they have a problem with transparency and accountability, they can leave the Public Sector and try their hand at Private Sector employment. I doubt that they would do well, though.

Teacher privacy?

Is that something new? Kind of like Spousal Privilege?

Wow...didn’t know the teaching profession enjoyed the same kidn of protections as the CIA, NSA, DIA.

Good to know.

Some good folks need to start getting on these school boards, city councils and county commissions and start dismantling the status quo, as it does NOT work.

Union is suing the Board, not the mother. Journalists and editors should talk prior to writing poor headlines.
