Vice President Kamala Harris will focus on defending international rules in the South China Sea, strengthening US leadership in the region and expanding cooperation on matters of security during her trip to Vietnam and Singapore, a senior White House official told Reuters.
The trip will be Harris's first to the region, making her the only US vice president to visit Vietnam and is aimed at rallying international support to counter China's growing global influence.
The countries are critical partners for the United States because of their location, size of their economies, their trade relationship with the United States and security partnership on issues such as the South China Sea, the official said.

Isn’t it Biden’s job to be doing this instead of her?
She did such a bang-up job with the border that they decided to send her to Southeast Asia to fix the China issue. Or maybe Hunter was too busy with his art career to serve as the mule for “The Big Guy’s” China bribes, so they sent Kamala to bring home the bacon. They probably figured she had a lot of experience with doing things for cash.
That ought to make China quake in its boots.

The Chinese will give her the same respect Trump gave Greta Thunberg.
Seems like an awfully strange thing to throw at the Vice President, who has no formal foreign policy functions. Do we not have a State Department whose formal function this actually is? Why the notoriously incompetent Harris? I actually can think of some possibilities but none of them are good for the country.
Those are my thoughts too. I don’t claim to be an expert on the Chinese leadership, but these are hard ruthless men. I can pretty much guarantee that they are laughing uproariously at her and there are no end to the jokes about her gender, sexual habits, and ethnicity. To them, the fact that the nation with the most powerful military on the Earth would send such a low life tramp to negotiate with them is an insult! Of course, maybe that is the intent of Biden.

This is absolutely a job for State Department diplomats, not a scatterbrained affirmative action putz.
Most likely the Chinese will show her a map and ask her to locate the South China Sea, and she will point to Lake Michigan.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, when she deplanes, will they play the theme from “JAWS”?
