#RiverFire (#Colfax, Placer/Nevada Co) - Report of another structure becoming involved in the 20000 block of Meyers Rd. Starting to release some tankers as they complete their drops due to nightfall. 4,000 structures are threatened - 2,000 of those are in Colfax.
Wow.
Looks like CA is smoken out the entire northwest.
Good friend of my BIL had to bug out of that area
He’s 15 miles from from that fire
Sis said not too smokey today in Boise, but both have stuffy noses and headaches from it
North Oregon Coast is expected to get that smoke tomorrow and then clear after a day. We were heavily smoked out for a month last year.
Thanks for the link! Fascinating.
I hope it doesn’t turn NE and hit North Idaho!
It looks like some on-shore winds are coming in from the Seattle air and our temps are going to drop by 20 to 25 degrees for a few days.
We are at 39 days over 90 degrees and virtually no rain for five months which is really rare here. Usually we have mountain thunderstorms and temps in the 80s.
Get used to it. The price to pay for 100 years of intransigent ignorance will not come easy or be painless.
Have a plan and build smartly or live in the city.
Period.
Thanks SO much for the link! I watch the Accuweather animated radar images every day, but the GOES animated images are much more spectacular and informative. Wow!
Ventusky.com has an air quality tab. It gives a good picture via the 2.5 and 10 micron particles combined with the CO pollutant component.
The background wind pattern overlay lets you know where things might be heading
“I want to know why this is named the Dixie Fire? All I can find with a search is this was named within hours of it starting.”
Cal Fire names each incident after a nearby landmark. The fire started near Dixie Road in Butte County. Dixie Road is named for a Native American who lived in the area, Dixie Johnson. (born 1875 - died 1949)
Amazing, isn’t it?
Did you see that you can choose from about ten different light wavelengths? Try them and see what you think.
That link I posted seems to be best.
The plus/minus signs can be used to speed up and slow down the animation, too.
That map shows the smoke plumes dropping ash over my house… and it is. Rather have smoke than fire. Bless those that have lost their possessions
