Is New York City’s vaccine passport scheme racist?

The latest French export is a requirement that people show proof of vaccination to visit indoor bars, concert venues, restaurants and gyms.

On Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that New York City will be the first American metropolis to import the French health pass. Marketed like an upscale perk, the ‘Key to NYC Pass’ program will begin on August 16 and become mandatory on September 13.

Almost half of whites in New York City are fully vaccinated, compared to a third of blacks and just under 45 percent of Hispanics.

So two thirds of New York City's black population will be banned from public venues.

I imagine the plan is selective enforcement.

de Blasio won 67 percent of the city’s vote in his 2017 reelection, embattled Gov. Andrew Cuomo won 81 percent in 2018 and Joe Biden carried 76 percent of New York City’s vote in 2020.

So there you have it - and why Cuomo is so defiant and has claimed he "ain't going nowhere, darling."

And they - or those with similar views - will continue to be voted in again and again.

What hope is left there at this point?

How can they do this when vaccinated people can/do carry the same viral load as unvaccinated infected?

The vaccinated MAY BE the creators/spreaders of the Delta Variant.

This is almost like restricting bars and restaurants to only COVID infected people. And you must show a positive for COVID test result to get in.

It seems to me Mayor DeBlasio’s order discriminates against small businesses usually owned by the middle class. Notice he did not order vaccine passports for Amazon delivery planes or their Mercedes trucks, big box stores, the large crowded subways and busses, BLM rioters, etc.
