What Conservatives Don’t Understand About the Black Community

As a graduate of Oral Roberts University, I was blessed to spend a lot of time with Oral Roberts himself.

Roberts repeatedly told me, “Go into every man’s world and meet them at the point of their need.”

He was referring to Christians evangelizing throughout the world. We Christians cannot wait for people seeking God to stumble into our churches. Rather, Christians must go to them and invite them to join our movement.

In a similar manner, conservatives must go!

They must go to black entrepreneurs. They must go to black parents. They must go to black preachers.

No more buffoonery. No more Stepin Fetchit. No more minstrel shows.

Blacks don’t need to be persuaded or convinced about conservative values. Blacks are the most conservative group in the country and have been for most of America’s existence.

Conservatives must start financially supporting legitimate, credible black organizations and individuals who have standing within the black community.

Conservative groups must form strategic partnerships with these credible black groups and individuals.

Far too often, conservatives attempt to address issues publicly that are of particular interest to the black community, but with not one credible black person on the platform with them.

Do conservatives not realize the optics of having a white person who has no standing in the black community attempt to address racial issues?

The biggest issue that blacks need to overcome is...modern “Black Culture”.

It is poisonous and toxic. The fatherlessness, the romanticizing and embrace of crime, the acceptance of violence, the open racism, the unrepentant misogyny, the rejection of education, all those things create a prison by American blacks that they will have to live in.

As long as they accept and embrace “Black Culture”, they will never be equal, they will never be free, and it is of their own doing and nobody else’s.

I tell blacks all the time that they must repent. In the end, it does not matter what Democrats did to them, they are still accountable to God’s laws. They need to be willing to embrace righteousness, regardless of their past.

There is a seed of truth here, IMO.

The statement “Blacks are the most conservative group in the country and have been for most of America’s existence” is risible on its face. It is silly exaggeration.

But the truth is, that core of blacks who hold down jobs, get married, try to raise families, pay their taxes, and contribute to the economy are more conservative than many people think.

I have heard Dan Bongino say this, and it has been my personal experience too-As he said, from his door-to-door experience as a candidate in black neighborhoods in Maryland when he was running for office, he related that if you talk to many blacks in this group I described, they may vote Democrat or be Democrats, but if you ask them pointed questions on specific issues...he points out that you often would be inclined to ask them outright “Why on earth are you voting Democrat? All those things you opined on make you more of a conservative than a liberal...”

In that, there IS a grain of truth. The author overstates it, but it is there, I believe.

Thomas Sowell has spoken at length about the effect of the Great Society programs on the black community, and it has been absolutely devastating.

Before the advent of the Great Society programs put in place by LBJ and the Democrat party, their levels of fatherlessness, marriage, unemployment, graduation rates, out of wedlock children, while perhaps greater than that of whites, was in the ballpark.

Since 1964, all one has to do is look at the statistics compiled by the government itself on this to see the truth.

There are few things as corrosive over time to a man’s soul as having money handed to him as a gift. People accept money as a gift, and accept it during tough times.

But a steady diet of it is a terrible thing for a man.

There is intrinsic value in working at a job, contributing to an economy, building self respect, and learning the value of money by getting paid for that work.

Being handed money for doing nothing destroys self respect, and generates resentment towards those supplying the money.

It creates a toxic vicious cycle.

Our government has PSA ads about why it is important not to feed bears because it makes them dependent. Handing out money makes humans dependent. Why don’t they see that?

Handing them money not only makes them dependent, it creates resentment, and in the end, destroys them.

Any money given will never, ever be deemed “enough”. Those getting it will want and expect more, and be angry and resentful when they don’t get it.

A lot of the black community think first and foremost of their race.

The same is true of the 'white community'. I see it in many quarters, in many circles, on this board and in many threads.

There’s no way to appeal to such people without being racist.

Should I consider the similar-thinking/acting whites to be beyond hope, too?

In reality, some men, you just can't reach. There will always be people who just see the black dude, or the white dude, FIRST, and an individual second. There will be whites who see blacks and go right to the stereotype, AND visa versa...same with every race. Pray for them, but they're not the primary cluster of focus.

For those on the bubble, I'm not proposing a liberal wokey, stupidy "I am colorblind" fantasy. Of course you cannot NOT notice skin color, just like you cannot NOT see tattoos on a neck, nose piercings, and a Mohawk. But just like you shouldn't assume the tatted-up dude is a loser, skin pigmentation shouldn't necessarily color your judgement (no pun intended).

The writer is pretty clear about his thesis: whites must go to blacks and invite them to join our movement, and not speak to them/about them from afar or with not one credible black person on the platform with us.

To test this hypothesis, let's consider Dubya, McCain, Willard, and Trump. I cannot think of any meaningful, material actual meeting with blacks or actual support from blacks the first three losers.

But Trump...remember this?

THAT scene is one of many that drove the leftists to defeat Trump...because he was the ONLY guy on our side (except for Walter Williams perhaps) to REALLY reach out to blacks.

AND IT WORKED! He didn't just pay lip-service to race-relations. He hired blacks, worked with blacks, and probably had more black people in his Rolodex than Dubya, McCain, and Willard COMBINED. His numbers with minorities were through the roof vs other Republicans. Over time, I suspect if this type of actual engagement continues, the Dems will have a real problem on their hand.

Blacks are individuals just like whites are individuals. They don't like to be taken for granted - that's what the left does. To 'go to them' is to be genuine, like evangelists and missionaries. Otherwise, it's all talk.

Guy makes total sense. Freepers don’t want to hear it. They’d rather cop a snot nose attitude, abandon blacks to the rat party rather than welcome them to join us. Sad. The problem with measuring by how many people you’re helping is that if and when we get to a situation where no one (or virtually no one) needs help, you’re up the proverbial creek without a paccle. Or as Rush Limbaugh said, “The left needs a permanent underclass.” And they need it ever and ever expanding.

I think this is the real meaning of Yogi Berra’s statement that “if the world were perfect, it wouldn’t be.”
